Running EVE on the Surface 3 (Intel Atom version)
Currently I'm getting 70 FPS when optimized for performance, which is pretty damn good considering it's a tablet. Everything is super smooth, the touch interface makes what I use my alt for a breeze, and its really handy being able to log in from wherever and not be carrying a 10lb laptop bag everywhere I go.

The question is though, how long can the Surface take the added stress of running something like EVE? Heat dispersion seems so good so far and I've been running around for an hour. My concern still remains, is heat going to be a large issue for these devices should we use them as a mobile EVE box?

Unless there is a design flaw, the hardware should be designed to run within it's design parameters, no matter what it's installed in. The random people claiming that a video game broke their PC/video card/mother's washing machine would have had a fault elsewhere. Unless unlocked and overclocked, a GPU will run at a set speed at 100% utilization, no more and no less.

I had no issues running EVE on my Surface Pro 2.

Well, until my 2yr old dropped it off the kitchen table... :(

It makes a fantastic light weight EVE platform if you travel as much as I do.

If the game start crashing after the unit gets really hot, you could consider lowering some settings to give it a bit more breathing room but it has no reason to do that. It's a low powered laptop built inside of a tablet-like form factor. There is no reason for it to not behave like a small laptop which can run it just fine. The fact that the hinge linking the 2 base part of the "laptop" are not a permanent fixture does not mean it can't fully function like any other more "standard" unit.
