Hello everyone. First off, I apologize in advance for the bad post in most likely the wrong place, but I figured you guys would know best when it comes to PVP and I can use some tips!

An exceedingly clever (in my opinion) pirate has taken it upon himself to follow me into every mission I run (primarily L4's) in a Bhaalgorn and harass my MTU's or loot my wrecks. Probably watchlist and locator agent or something. When I first started this game, I almost whelped a Megathron to a Tristan who baited me, and so I was very wary to engage this pilot. But after the denizens of C&P helped me realize recently what a tragedy it was to have been playing this game for over 2 years and have 0 kills on my combat history and rerunning the same missions the entire time, I have been actively trying to find PVP opportunities.

I aggressed him in my Kronos, knowing full well it was a trap. He neuted me faster than I thought possible, and only a friendly corp logi saved me from dying to NPCs and gave me just enough cap to warp off.

Now, this pirate does not seem to be your average kill-mail seeker. He does not destroy my MTU, nor does he fire upon my ship after I aggress him. It almost seems like he’s trying to stay under the radar. He does not even point me. He simply drains my capacitor to zero (so I can’t even warp off) and seems to want NPCs to finish me off, or just make me miserable. Makes no demands, doesn’t respond to anything I saw. Only repeats 1 cryptic line (below).

Long story short, he has been following me into missions for two full evenings. I have tried to take him in a PVE Kronos, a cap boosted PVP Kronos, a cap boosted Vindicator, a double cap boosted Vindicator, a cap boosted Navy Dominix. Nevermind that he neuts me to oblivion, I simply can’t dent his tank.

This is not a tears post. I welcome the content he is creating for me, and am having great fun. I would just appreciate your insights on how to deal with a Bhaalgorn involved in such a thing. I have so far been able to do absolutely nothing to this man. I realize inviting local to come blap a lone suspect Bhaalgorn may do it, but my personal sense of e-honor demands I dispatch this pilot myself (despite the shameful logi help).

So far as I can tell, there is nothing a battleship can do to a neuting Bhaalgorn that is thoroughly tanked.

Oh, and part of his brilliance, every time he interrupts my mission, he convos me and cryptically writes:

1,000,000,000.00…
1,000,000,000.00…
1,000,000,000.00…

Over and over, and doesn’t respond to anything I type back. I presume he means 1B to leave me alone.

Yep. Those numbers mean 1 billion.

Don't give him anything.

Hint minmatar guns need no cap and neither do drones. Hull tank something and have enough boosters to maintain your scram running to prevent him from warping or mjd away.

I'd say get your friends involved. Wait until he goes flashy and have them warp in with logi and feed you cap. Fly something with cap boosters too, and projectiles or drones, so you only need enough capacitor to pin him down. Once you have him pointed and have confirmed that your capacitor is holding up and he's unable to maneuver out of range, open a conversation and just type "1,000,000,000" repeatedly. If he pays kill him anyway, since you didn't specify that the billion isk was for a ransom, so your e-honour won't be tarnished.

I'm just theory crafting here for ya so take it for what it's worth.
I'd say since you want to fight, try a tanked out domi with a rack of nos's. Scram him, nos him and let the drones do the dirty work. I'd hope for a slug fest and eventually one of you will run out of cap boosters. Here's a quick 5 minute fit I'd go after a bhaal in. Bear in mind I will shoot anything that moves with anything that moves so I keep my fits cheap and expendable.

[Dominix, Dumb Ideas]

Damage Control II
1600mm Steel Plates II
1600mm Steel Plates II
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
Large Ancillary Armor Repairer, Nanite Repair Paste
Drone Damage Amplifier II
Drone Damage Amplifier II

Heavy Electrochemical Capacitor Booster I, Navy Cap Booster 800
Warp Scrambler II
Large Capacitor Battery II
Large Capacitor Battery II
Medium Capacitor Booster II, Navy Cap Booster 800

Heavy Diminishing Power System Drain I
Heavy Diminishing Power System Drain I
Heavy Diminishing Power System Drain I
Heavy Diminishing Power System Drain I
Small Diminishing Power System Drain I
Small Diminishing Power System Drain I

Large Ancillary Current Router I
Large Auxiliary Nano Pump I

Ogre II x5

I'd consider swapping a the cap battery or medium booster for a prop mod if he always starts the shenanigans out of scram range. Something else to consider is swapping rigs to more buffer and less repping but I personally would want the most rep per cycle since you're always going to be under heavy nueting pressure. I would also attempt to get some armor links boosting you for a little extra advantage.

Hope that gives you some ideas to work off.

Fight cryptic repetition with outright absurdity and force him to pledge an adoption of a South American Pygmy Possum. If I were you I'd repeatedly spam:

Get a buddy in an electronic attack frig help you take him out. Jam him and just pop him. Damp/web him, keep range (outside of neut or lock range). Jams are best because keeping range might allow him to mjd out.

The more I think about it. Get him agressed, point him, have a buddy jam him and put him down like a dog.

This is it. He will be suspect so anyone can engage him. If you have 2 friends get one in a kitsune, and one in a tackle frigate, then you provide the dps and demand payment.

If you fit 1 large cap battery II then his neuts will also work against him. Some of the neuting gets reflected back on him.

Increases capacitor storage. Provides defense against Energy Leech and Energy Neutralizer effects.

I'm at work and I can't give you a link to the amount of neuting that gets reflected back. Look in game under the stats to get the actual amount. The punch line is that most folks that fly nueting ships don't account for the relected neuting pressure on their cap when they fit out a ship, so a large cap battery II will help you out. He'll either burn through cap boosters faster or have to turn some of the neuts off to maintain his own cap. It helps you and hurts him.

What time do you run sites? I would love to show up 'uninvited' when he's flashy yellow in your mission. I could bring friends. This could be a whole event - popcorn, beverages. I could see keeping the guy scrammed and jammed for several hours while we figure out how to take him down.

My RL workload is pretty high right now, but if you send me a mail, I have corpies that would get a kick out of stepping on this leet pvper's head.

The Realist in me says to take Serendipity up on the offer. The inner child who pays 15 bucks a month to play a game says to fit up a ship and make a real fight of it. Either way it's your choice.

In my experience, the real pulse pounding, heart fluttering, adrenaline flooding moments in this game are the fights where victory is in doubt and you take the fight knowing winning is a long shot.

Anyone here at BAW would also be ready willing and able to kill a suspect bhaal, feel free to reach out.

He mission baits in a Bhaalgorn? And then doesn't kill you?

This is ******* weird. Does anyone else think this is ******* weird?

Thank you kind sir, and thank you everyone for the advice and offers of assistance. I am trying to avoid bringing friends because I want my first (embarrassing, I know) kill (and killmail) to be a solo thing, as a sort of penance for not having any for over 2 years of playing.

I have failed miserably with 2x heavy cap boosters (he staggers the neuts so they don't hit at once) already, but I shall give capacitor batteries a shot and also look into ewar. My Domi with perfect drone skills using Ogre II's and Geckos managed to do exactly nothing to his tank. And contrary to what I heard, the mission NPCs don't seem to switch aggro to him when he starts neuting.

I have to admit the monotonous "1,000,000,000.00..." repetition is getting to me. I feel like I'm being assimilated or something. Great RP on his part.

Have to hand it to him though. Mission baiting with a Bhaalgorn is something I've never heard of before. Perhaps because it's a foolishly expensive risk? But he is sure doing a spectacular job at convincing me that I need to break out of the monotony of mission grinding. And it's such a good way to mess with mission runners.

Hopefully he shows up when I play this weekend and I can link you all my first kill mail.

Oh don't get me wrong. This seems thoroughly thought out. Neuting a Marauder during bastion, and letting him get owned by mission NPCs. The killmail would only indicate that I whelped a Kronos to NPCs, as he does not shoot me. I already have a loss like that on my combat history, and it would be REALLY embarrassing to get another, as people will assume I'm as much a scrub in PVE as I am in PVP. Unless I'm mistaking something, and neuts add him to the kill mail.

Either he's having fun RPing, or he's come up with a brand of PVP I haven't heard of before.

EDIT: Letting *me get owned by mission NPCs.

God knows why this dude isn't pointing and taking your marauder into structure while demanding the ransom...pulling damage at that point and doing a 30 second countdown on your ass.

Very weird. Either he has some cunning side-ploy going on here we are all missing, or he is simply re1arded; which in EvE is often the most likely answer.

Tis an honor Mr. Feyd, to have you in my post. I actually read your blogspot in its entirety some time ago, and had it not been for your VERY helpful post regarding how to un-eff my overview, as well as set up separate tabs for "gtfo" etc., I would still be flying with the default overview. I have not died to fire once since I applied the methods you posted Idea

And yes, no point, no web. I think maybe he's onto something, though. Being killed due to another player is one thing, but having a bunch of marauder losses to NPCs would genuinely upset some carebears, as they may be seen as re1arded in both pvp AND pve.

Do update the blog more often please Blink

Thing is he would still show on the killmail, even if he only used neuts on you; sure the NPC's would get top damage, but it would be clear a player-owned Bhaal was messing with you, so...

I'm sticking with occams razor in that the simplest answer is often the right one, and this guy is a ree ree at extortion.

Ah. I thought only damage dealers show up on kms. Thank you for that clarificaion. I now have less reservations about calling in help, sInice I thought he was a new special breed of pvper.

The cap battery Dominix is a great answer. Having a logi friend to support you makes it way way better. If you look at that fit, assuming I wasn't drunk when I looked at it, it has two cap boosters. When you start to run low (which will be fast) start the first one, wait till it gets about half way then start the other. Offsetting them you'll have cap a little longer and should be able to cycle modules more easily. Once you're doing that, if you have a friend who can show up I a blackbird and just sit 50 km from him jamming him to all to hell you should be able to whittle away at his tank. And once the jams start landing your cap should recover quite quickly.
