Started in 2008-ish, built up things nicely and had accrued about 40bn in cash and more in assets. Lost it all through Somerblink and the like in about three days. A bit abysmal, but that's me for you :)


Came back to the game after a three year hiatus. Saw how things had changed, and also saw how I could make an income for myself. I borrowed some money from some nice people, and now I'm slowly getting to where I want to be, and having fun too.


Short answer: find something that interests you and make it profitable.

Like charging your PVP expenses to your alliance to keep them low...

I made my first bill on a char with 0 skills in just longer than a day. I promised to double the amount of isk people sent me if they followed some simple rules. And so I was turned to the dark side, never again would I grind missions...

Well, you can always resort to buying a PLEX for cash and selling it.

For many people, the time and effort of grinding for ISK just isn't worth it.

Work in RL. Play EVE.

If you train a trader you will find that no other pod-pilot will earn more.

Hmmm... in-game. Have you tried the career agent's yet? Really, it's like you are either self sufficient or you are not. All you really need is enough isk to keep your play-style funded. A lot of different ways to do that. I mostly just shoot stuff for isk, but there is trading too, though I don't do that as much anymore since I rather shoot stuff. It just depends what you do. You could buy a couple PLEX when it goes on sale, sell it when the time is right, spend less time trying to make isk in-game and more time for irl. irl is the ultimate mmo, imo.

Short of scamming, there's very few ways of making huge amounts of ISK quickly. Not being much of a scammer myself, I've found the trick is to make moderate ISK regularly, along with keeping expenses down as much as possible.

To this end, I run some Planetary Interaction and try to do an 'average' of ~2-4 anomalies a day, usually Hubs, as I currently lack the skills to fly big blingy ISK Printers.

While I could *probably* make more mining than ratting, I do a lot of LowSec flying and prefer to keep my security status positive via ratting than expensive tags. I also try to make use of ALL the resources that cross my path. So I'll deploy MTUs while ratting, sell the loot worth hauling to Jita and melt the rest down for minerals.

Keeping expenses down is pretty simple and 90% of it is basic stuff like watching local, not ratting AFK and not going bonkers putting unreasonably expensive mods on paper-thin frigates. A faction web on a Daredevil is one thing, an A-Type MWD on a Maulus is something completely different. The main method of keeping costs down is SRP, join an alliance or corp that has a good SRP program and you can PvP for cheap!
