Hi folks,

I've had an idea for a while now about trying to start an official disabled players group. The group would be to discuss issues we face in EVE and in the EVE Community. From things like vision impairments, and hearing issues to many other disabilities. Besides just creating a chat channel (which I have) what else can I/we do to get this idea some attention and get it to take off?

After I made my channel (DPU Lounge) I also found another channel linked in the Broadcast3Reps channel which is called Beyond Boundaries. It doesn't matter to me where we talk or how, but it matters that we get this up and running.

Had a talk with Joffy Aulx-Gao on Slack. We're going to combine efforts on this one and form the Disabled Players Union. We'll be using the DPU Lounge chat channel.

Hey,

You should maybe start by advertising your group on the forums. Don't hesitate to contact CCP and present them your idea, if it's interesting I'm sure CCP Guard and Mimic will be happy to give you a shoutout on the next o7 show.

Thanks, I've tweeted CCP Guard on Twitter and I've also tweeted Bobmon. Not sure where to advertise this group in the forums though.

General Discussion I guess, although you'll have to keep your thread updated a lot if you want it to be seen.

You can also contact new player groups like E-UNI, maybe they can point players at you, or mention your channel somewhere.

Great idea. Knowing the Eve community I'm sure that many corps and alliances have found ways of ensuring their disabled members can join in activities. Would be good to put this information in a central location for reference. If CCP support this it may also go some way to encouraging people with disabilities to trying out the game if they know it's accessible to them.

Name your new channel something that focus' on "Accessible EvE" rather than on disability...

You might want to run this with two channels. A public which anyone can join (watch out for trolls and have plenty of people with moderator rights) and a private one you manually add players to the allowed list on.
