Spanish localization

Here's an idea:

Add Spanish as one of the supported languages for EVE. I know of a few Spanish speaking EVE pilots. Wouldn't it be awesome if we had more of them? We have German, French, Chinese, and Japanese localization. I mean, after all, the Spanish speaking community only consists of about 400 million people. Also, according to this site, the spanish language only ranks number 2 in the most used language in the world, with Chinese being first and English being third.

Just think of how many more people could play EVE if Spanish was a supported language...

Now, let the thread flaming begin!

Yah it would make sense for CCP to implement "Spanish Localization", i had just assumed CCP already had this because of the prominence of language.

I fail to understand why people want the game in their own language... If EVE was translated to my native tongue (Danish), I would quit the game, cause everything would sound puny and downright stupid.

But sure sure, if it makes live easier for you.

I feel is mainly people don't understand how hard it is top localize a game let alone a game that must continue its localisation with each update

I know you think you have done your research but I'm going to assume ccp has done more if they thought they world profit from this they would work on it

According to the stats posted above, Spanish is more common than English. There is a massive profit that CCP is missing out on by not supporting the Spanish language.

Easy for you to say. You can obviously speak English. Tell that to all the people who can only speak Spanish and nothing else.

If CCP's marketing people can't see a huge profit being made by adding Spanish as a supported language, I suggest they do further research. You'd have to be blind to not see an opportunity like this.

We play on EVE's server Tranquility which has roughly 500.000 suscribers. Then there is Serenity which is the EVE server for Asia, and that is EVE alone... Then there is Dust 514 etc. So I don't really assume CCP is in lack of profit.

I'm not saying they are lacking in profit. I'm saying they could potentially make a huge profit by adding Spanish as a supported language. There's nothing wrong with the profit that CCP is making now, but there is potential for them to make more.

I personally know at least 3 persons that would be playing the game right now only if the game were in Spanish (they don't understand english very well and just tires them to have to mentally translate everything).

Not counting all the people I could have convinced to at least try the game if it were in spanish. Language is a deal-breaker for many people.

We're not talking about a language spoken by a few million people. We're talking about spanish, 2nd language in the world.

about languages Question
Pirate
i know & aware :
* quantity of speakers doesn't make The Quality,
* there are errors in juxtapositions, word of one language with word of another language (example "Confidence", "Confianza" & error in Russian, .. there are more points in Russian, i tired to explain & came off, errors render fatigue coz made of dark matter),
* then language isn't just the words, Consciousness is everything of nothing & about it.

That would be true for languages such as Russian, Arabic, and Chinese. Spanish uses many of the same characters that English uses, so I don't imagine this being a huge issue.
