they used the terms "sand box" , "open environment" , "vehicule and infantry customization"

are they already trying to compensate for DUST gameplay? :p

LOL no, just no. Lol

...clearly the Ishukone Watch Scorpion is the fifth horseman of the Apocalypse, i.e. the Brown Rider, otherwise known as Poopie.

This.....hehe.

As much as I hope that Dust 514 is a huge and epic success (I honestly do) it has to be absolutely the furthest thing from EA/DICE's mind lol.

I admire the OPs ambition, but no, BF3 couldn't care less about Dust 514.

I'm right behind you

even if dust only reaches 10% of the quality of Bf3 it could still succeed for a similar scyfy niche market Eve relies on. Bf3 has still the game mechanics of UT99. You spawn, team up, kill, spawn again... all without consequences. Mainstream, intuitive (evolution of the same 10+ years old game mechanics) etc. The Dust-Eve link is the selling factor.

Note: i am not saying it will succeed, I just try to explain the idea behind that thing.

However I am wondering why nobody compared Dust to Planetside 2 yet (probably to early).

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

Well not CCP's DUST but a downloaded copy of a game with a similar name Blink.

One won't cancel the other. People will still play both. In the end BF3 (PC, Xbox, PS) will have more since Dust will be exclusive to PS3 (losing out alot doing that, PS3 makes up less market share than the xbox). Plus, other than the EVE community, not many people even know about Dust, and what it is.

Im very sad I will not be able to enjoy Dust (Xbox, and proud of it), but maybe someday I will get to.

I'm actually probably going to buy a PS3 for DUST. Secondary reason being that I don't have a blueray player, so the console would serve dual purpose.

But all-in-all, BF3 won't be threatened by DUST. Main reason being the popularity of the franchise. Second being that BF3 has over 3 times the target audience (PC, Xbox, and PS3)

I see Dust as Battlefield 2142 but set in EvE and interacts with EvE players.

And some might remember how ... "good" 2142 was....

BF3 isnt threatened at all... who is gonna wait another year at the least for a game that might suck.

not to mention BF3 will sell probably over a million on 360, over half a million on PS3, and a quarter million on PC

Dust will probably sell 300k over its lifetime, assuming it starts at $20 and doesn't flop

"they" One day I'm gonna meet these people.

Rest assured, as a veteran of the BF series, including running a competitive clan (TWL/CAL) for five years (top five percent engineer, top one percent commander) ain't no way serious BF players are concerned with Dust or any other game.

Engineers die with the armor.
