Hello,

Coders are required for a rebooted Ships of Eve community portal and Events website.

Background
Ships of Eve was an events corporation that created and ran original and creative events for any pilot in Eve with an active player base of just over 6,000 Pilots and thousands of other one off customers. Ships of Eve was well known for making cost and free to enter events unlike any other in Eve and broke records with every main event even though it was a non-profit institute funded soley by single wallet. SOE also supplied and supported other event corporations by supplying prizes, knowledge and helping with management and marketing issues. All free SOE events were supported by massive SOE lotteries unlike any other known to Eve that each had original and creative prizes in the hundreds of billions of isk, with over a trillion isk in prizes given away during 2009. Ships of Eve was sold to Selene D'Celeste in 2010 and has been awaiting its rebirth ever since and this is an opportunity for you to be apart of a new SOE experience. Due to some changes in the API the original website design for SOE is now possible and coders are needed to help make it a reality.

Requirements
You should be familiar with css, .net or php, sql and have experience coding websites (other languages may also be considered) - experience with the EVE API and extracting and manipulating data from Eve Database dumps, and basic game logic would be useful but not necessary. An active interest in entertaining and connecting the community would also be beneficial.

References
You will need references from your last two CEOs and atleast two examples of working code or websites you have written/ designed and you will be required to sign a basic NDA if accepted.
References from the following people will also be accepted in lieu of Ceo References: Darknesss, Grendell, Chribba, Selene D'Celeste or Peter Powers... references from Entity may be considered depending on my mood and if my girlfriend is watching

Source Code
All source code you write will be owned by the www.shipsofeve.com corporation and the ISN Network and will be shared with programmers and coders from a seperate project who will be supervising the coding side of this project.

Pay
Pay will be a set isk amount awarded after goals are completed (the amount to be discussed during your second interview) and will be a substantial amount of isk with in game item bonuses based off the websites success and free game time for your main character.

Contact and Interview
If you are interested please reply to this post and I will contact you by evemail to organise an interview.
You Initial interview will be with me and your second interview will be with myself and the ISN lead programmer.

The Project
Details of the project will be explained during your interview.

Regards,
T'amber

What exactly do you require, and why could you possibly want to use .NET *shudder*? In addition, what to do if you are a/the CEO? Blink

Why are people complaining about .NET ? Its a perfectly valid language to develop websites in... are they complaining because they don't know how to? Roll

I am fluent in both of ASP.NET and PHP and use them extensively in my day job.

I think Callean Drevus mentioned some interesting points. An exact list of requirements (why .NET, no PHP?) would be very helpful.

Luckily I have been member of exactly two corporations so far, so that point is solved :-)

Looking forward to your Evemail, but i am on vacation until the 6th January, so please don't be disappointed if I do not reply immediately. I will try to check Evemail daily, though.

P.S.: Is it a problem if English is not my mother tongue? I am from Germany...

You only need one referee if you are German.

It is a requirement from above, there may be some room to negotiate however.

Best of luck to you.

As for .NET, go for it. I personally don't use it due to Windows Server licensing cost, though I very much appreciate C# 4 from a feature-set perspective, though I would suggest F# [Blink

Nobody mentioned Ruby on Rails... :(

Odyssey: Repacking in POS hangars for modules +1,  but please for other stuff too, especially containers. Make containers openable in POS hangars.
