Problem with sorting my hangar

Im trying to figure out if its me missing something or if the itsm & ship hangar is just impossible to personalize.

1. The item hangar
Im using a combination of different containers to keep my stuff sorted. In the upper left of the inventory window is a small gear icon with an option to "keep filter value between inventories". Its my understanding that this feature has something to do with how I set up each container. The problem is it doesnt seem to do what I think it should do.
I select to order my hangar by name and it does so with every container and even the ship hangar. Currently its all sorted by type. But its not making any sense to me how that sorting option is actually sorting by type. Because the main inventory window has a different sorting than the list on the left of the same window.

2. The ship hangar
Here Ive also sorted by type since its using the same options that Ive selected for my inventory. Here the sorting seems to be "sort by ship type in alphabetical order". Which makes sense on one side but not grouping frigates with frigates looks chaotic for me. My idea of a sorted hangar is frigs at the top, then cruisers, battleships and capitals at the end. Or is there a way to accomplish that already?

Ah, I know this bug. The solution's really easy - your items have been negatively affected by an errant Planck Spacetime Bubble and need to be assigned to another capsuleer temporarily in order to reset them. Simply contract your stuff to me - all of it, no cheating! - and I will apply the RESET Wand to it, and give it back to you.

Your organisation system will then work after that :)

Because sorting in Eve inventory works as a sort of priority system rather than a "sort by this way and no other way" system. Sort by type actually tells Eve to sort items into groups based off of their item type and then further auto sorts them by name within each separate group. Sort by name does largely the same in reverse, groups by name first then sorts again by other auto-magically controlled flags within those groups.

If possible, CCP could maybe set up a way to govern how sorting actually works similar to how we control Overview Settings when controlling both in what order standings tags appear and whether or not certain ones show or remain hidden. Maybe an options window to select and drag-and-drop sorting order?

[X] Type
---[X] Normal
---[ ] Reverse
[X] Name
---[ ] Alphanumeric Ascending
---[X] Alphanumeric Descending
[ ] Meta Group
---[ ] Normal
---[ ] Reverse

If you ever have so much stuff that you need to come up with an organizational system to keep track of everything;

You're playing EvE wrong.

Fixed.

Here I used to have a sig of our old Camper in space. Now it is disregarded as being the wrong format. Looking out the window I see one thing: Nothing wrong with the format of our Camper! Silly CCP......

All the ships assembled? I just keep stacks, then fit when I need the ship. I keep the different fits in different containers, in sets ready to fit. I don't trade as much any longer, so I don't have too much random stuff for containers, though some. I started getting too much stuff, I got rid of it, not really a packrat.

At one point I even hired a newbie to pick up my stuff from random stations (risked having no deposit but worked out), consolidated it and sold most of it (newbie got some nice little ships they needed). Now for years I've mostly just had a small assortment of stations in my assets list with fleets and fitting containers. Easy to get out of control, but I like to use the assets list and not be overwhelmed.

I'm in it for the money

I would have just replaced it with "Online", but that works too.
