Black Screen

Anyone else getting a black screen when they log in? I can hear audio fine, but it is nothing but a black screen after I log in a character. It seems that if you log in and were already docked, you are fine. Now if you are logging in to space, you get the black screen.

Tried clearing cache, Running repair tool. Nothing Works. Every time i try to log back in i can heat the audio fine but the graphics do not load, nothign but a black screen.


Interestingly enough if i open task manager and end the process the graphics appear as normal for a mili-second before the program closes.

Please help this is infuriating.

I'm seeing the exact same thing. I have two accounts and the one that is currently undocked I cannot log into; the one that's in a station I can. For the undocked character, I get to the character selection screen, I click my character, then I see a very brief flicker of background, then black screen. This is on a Mac running OS X 10.10.3 (no changes to the OS since it was working).

Any suggestions on workarounds to try?

im having the same problem, as soon as the eve window pops up and logs me in, i cant see the character selection? just bloack screen, sound and escape window pops up thats it.

EXACT same issue here, its been a week without anything from CCP to fix this particular problem. I assume it has something to do with the fact that the resource loading circle isn't doing anything, but I really have no idea
For the time being the backdoor exefile method works for me, but since my main account is through steam I can't access it with that method

Both of my accounts are having this issue. I haven't been able to play for 2 days now. Seriously considering canceling my sub. What's the point if I can't play?

For those of you encountering a black screen please close the launcher and your client if you have it running. Then navigate to your EVE installation folder. Right click on rescache.exe and select run as administrator from the drop down list. This will verify the files in your shared resource cache folder and replace any corrupt files. The program will also offer to download any missing resource files however these are not required so you can select no to that question.

If your on a Mac then you can get this program from the following location.

https://github.com/ccpgames/rescache

Simply download the zip file, extract it into your download folder and then double click on the rescache.command. This will start the program for the Mac.

This morning I pulled up my launcher immediately after downtime, with the same issue, BUT
I went in the settings and used all Four clear cache options the after restarting the launcher attempted to Play, the game loaded the intro video and then finally went to the character selection screen! From there, I've so far been able to play the game properly

I hope clearing these caches work for anyone still having issues with the blacks screen

The game server has been really laggy all day. This is almost never an issue for me, but i've gotten DC'd from the servers twice today. I ran a 200 ping test to google.com and there is no latency or packetloss issue to that server, so i know its not a local ISP issue.

After getting DC'd the second time i had to wait 15min before i could log back into the game, and now when i select my character i get the black screen.

So while the black screen is certainly my primary concern now, its not the only problem with the game servers right now.

I ran the rescache.exe and it found no issues. Still getting the black screen. Wasn't an issue until a little bit ago (not just today)

EDIT: I also get a huge delay when jumping through wormholes that wasn't there before.

Ran rescache.exe, somehow i was missing 9 GB of files.... After like an hour it finished. Now i can get back in game but now because of the DC one of my Augmented Ogre's is gone. Can i have it back please?


EDIT: Hey, and look as soon as i get back in, and i try to fly back to amarr to buy my lost drone, i get DC'd again... and i have black screen.. AGAIN!.

So whats next?

I am experiencing the same thing, but it is an overall random lag. Sometimes when clicking out in space, it takes 5 seconds for the menu to come up, other times it is instant. Random DC, longer wait times between systems (warp tunnel tends to take forever now), delayed inputs when pressing f1-12, delayed alignments, and ship is hyper spacing sometimes and skips around. Feels like TIDI.

Problem has only occurred since the last few patches.

I hope they fix this soon. Driving me nuts, and is almost unplayable.

Try living in WH space with it and having that lag anytime you enter a WH. Good way to get blown up. Might have to cancel my account, or just train afk while they fix this. I've tried all their "fixes" but nothing helps.

I do live in WH space m8, and I feel your pain. I am in the process of making a video to better help illustrate the problem.

Alright, I have run the repair tool, cleared all cache / settings. In desperation, I uninstalled the game. And the same problem is still occuring. So for those of you that were considering uninstalling, it did absolutely nothing. I have a uploading that illustrates what is happening.

Didn't pay attention to your corp name sorry. I tried all but uninstalling which was next on my list. Thanks for the heads up. I hope they fix this soon.... :(

Alright, this is a video I created to help show what is going on. I weighed heavily on putting text in the video because it passes the time faster because you are occupied by reading, and so it does not feel like it taking long. But without the text, it is almost a solid 1 minute of logging in. Also in addition, i went out to rat for an additional illustration, and nearly got killed. Note how long it takes the guns to cycle. The rat magically died, and my ship stopped because the last command was approach. Thus I was just blooming my sig without going anywhere, and nearly lost this example enyo that was shield buffer fit.

I NEVER had these issues until this last week. Game ran perfect, no lag whatsoever, never DC'd. This week i can't even play Eve anymore. The game is incredibly laggy, and i've already verified its not my internet connection. Not only does my streaming music never skip a beat, i never lose my teamspeak connections, and when i run ping tests to known public servers on the internet there is never any latency or packetloss. So its something with the game, or the game servers.

I was able to get back into the game briefly last night, and play for about an hour or so, but still stuttering and laggy real bad. Today, i got to play for about an hour and then DC'd again, and now i have black screen when trying to log in, AGAIN.

You know I've loved playing this game for over the last 2 years, and i have 3 alt's i am currently subbing, but i can't continue to pay for a game that i can't even play.

When is there going to be a fix for this? From what it looks like a clean install doesn't even help. If it matters at all, i have done a clean install of Eve within the last month.

Yup, this is exactly whats happening with me too. And it only happens when my ships are in space. When i'm docked i never have a problem logging in, or with the lag.
