Its been a long time since a dev blog or any new information has been released. Beta is suppose to be soon and all information about it is pretty much non existent. Can a DEV please at least say when information will be released. The game was hyped up with the release of its website and amazing integration features, but the website has just about zero information except a facebook/twitter side bar and some chronicles.

So I forgot....what was Dust 514 again, I could have swore it was a banana.

Feel free to troll train this post to no tomorrow. Hopefully it will bring in a dev to answer the question.

Information about the new upcoming game please. One-two-three kthxbai.

Would you mind linking your source for the "beta happening soon" information??

I too, am excited for beta, but threads like this usually don't carry much weight unless you can cite CCP's own statements in pursuit of holding them accountable.

Looking forward to Dust 514 though - it will shake up fighting in space more than most space expansions - by opening up new reasons to fight in front of those pretty planets we received in Dominion. Everyone seems to forget this when they troll about not needing another FPS or that its somehow to the detriment of "FiS"

dust is supposed to be an MMO FPS for the xbox that would allow console players to be hired by PC players to take over planets in a seamless battleground on a massive scale, with combat over the planets and on the ground players would be able to support each other.

what dust will be, is a "ok" PS3 shooter that will take to long to finish, and probably release shortly before the PS4 comes out. it won't sell very well simply because PS3 shooters don't sell much compared to 360 in an already flooded market.

When I said a beta is coming soon I meant by the end of this year, which is only a few months.

http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2011/06/06/dust-514-announced-as-ps3-exclusive.aspx

The bottom message should be proof enough, if not google it. Its open knowledge that a beta is coming by the end of this year. So within 3 months, Id figured a little more info would be out by now.

If CCP creates an "ok" FPS after 4 years of development, ill puke out of my eyeballs. EVE progression has slacked a lot for WoD and Dust 514 so Id hope that those games will at least be good and then CCP can come back to EVE and give it some love. Although I could care less about WoD. WoD wont be for a very very long time.

But beta is within 3 months unless something goes wrong. Its suppose to be in beta for 6 months and then released. So my plan is to play the **** in beta until it comes out.

Those not used to dealing with CCP don't quite understand the difference between Soon and SoonTM as used by CCP in all their 'announcements'.

They should allow DUST players to go into stations. Would like to hire DUST mercs to go into trade hubs and kill off scam bots.

The only things that would have appealed to me about Dust are if it came out on PC... or if I could take my capsuleer on a whole new journey of shooting stuff on planets.

Fact I need to buy a PS3 to play an eve related game puts me off

This isn't anything new game for developers, how long did it take Blizzard to actually reveal any information about Diablo 3 despite being in development since 2001? Answer: seven years.

CCP doesnt really mean for all EVE players to play this game, its to just bring in a new audience and a entirely new set of people into EVE. The only thing that concerns EVE players is the interaction and association between dust and EVE. CCP never said to stop playing EVE and go play dust. Think of dust as an expansion pack with new content. Only this content is run by people interaction and not just NPCs and crap.

Dust will bring a large amount of features and interaction and planetary battles to EVE. It will take a little time to make it right, and of course it wont be 100% perfect when its first released, but CCP will update dust and add more stuff to it, which in the end just ads more to EVE itself.

Yes I know the game could instantly flop and fail and be garbage. But if it does actually work out, it could be a an entirely new and fun addition to EVE. Seriously think about the possibilities and potential of integrating 2 games like this.

With Beta over 3 months away I don't think there is really much to be said at this point.

Jove space will open and will be the main battleground for Dust, is my guess, seeing as Jove are listed as a race on the 514 site.

The less we know about the Jovians, the better. They are supposed to be mysterious and dangerous. Plz don't put them in a first person shooter :(

The questions I'm dying to have answered at the specifics:

Will manufacturing of weapons/tanks/gear be similar to EvE with BP's?
Will they use the same materials, or is it going to be largely PI?
Will Dust players make the stuff as well? If so, does that mean they'll be doing PI/mining?
How will items be deliverable to Dust players? Customs offices?
Will Dreads be able to bombard in Low Sec, or is this a null-sec only feature?
How will matches be decided to ensure that opposing forces fight, instead of both "teams" being flooded with friends of the sov holders, to prevent tampering?
Will it be used as part of FW?
WHAT WILL AUR BUY? <-- it had better not be weapons/tanks/gear.... maybe paint jobs like in BFBC2, but not the weapons themselves, especially since the crap will drop on death like EvE.

Can't wait to dual box my Dust toon and EVE toon on the same machine!

AUR will be used for vanity and non vanity items (Weapons, vehicles, customizations). You will be able to purchase weapons with AUR, but CCP made it clear that they are not going to let pay to win be an issue. I cant remember where I found it, or what CCP interview, but the items you can buy with AUR will either be around exactly the same as general items you can purchase with ISK and or a small change. Like maybe instead of an assault rifle with +5 damage and +5 accuracy, the AUR version would be +4 damange and +6 accuracy. But the AUR market should be just about the same.

BUT, as a bonus, everything you can purchase in the AUR market can bee freely traded and sold on the EVE and Dust market. Remember There will be 2 markets. The central EVE market which DUST will be able to use just like EVE players, and a special Dust market only for dust stuff, like buying your weapons, grenades and crap for battles. And if AUR items can be sold on the main market and traded, then pay to win sorta goes away.

Here is a quote from Joystiq games. This news is available on other places, but just to cite it and at least ease your pain that pay to win isn't going to happen.

""Additionally, the player-driven marketplace so popular in CCP's other big MMO, EVE Online, will also be made available to Dust 514 folks, giving gamers a chance to build up their virtual empires without the use of their hard-earned spondulicks. "Bought currency items and non-currency items can be freely exchanged between the players," creative director Atli Mar Sveinsson added. To CCP, the free flow of the two marketplaces will keep the user base from splitting into two separate factions. "It avoids the buy/win problem that some microtransaction-based games have.""
