PVE on planets

When PI was first introduced it was billed as the first iteration on how we Immortals would interact with the planets of new eden.

Since then not alot has changed (other than the number of clicks involved in performing PI).

I propose as a next step to introducing us to the worlds of New eden I propose that CCP might introduce a new form of PVE to planets. These missions would be small to begin with to do solo and be given out alongside in space missions from your normal agent.

For example - Assassinate the head of X corp....

The CEO of corp X is giving a speech on planet 5 announcing a takeover of our corp go kill him.

You take your Planetary transport (new ship) into low orbit on the planet and land at the nearest port. You can then either grab a land based vehicle and head to the target or if it is quite close walk.

Taking aim with your Sniper rifle you kill him, jump back into your vehicle and do a runner (or run like mad if you walked Big smile).



example 2 - Rogue Drones are attacking the complex on planet 3 eradicate them....

Same start as before but upon leaving your vehicle you find drones attacking and must eliminate them before the complex is destroyed.

End on line......

Yes EVE is about space ships this is simply a proposal as to what CCP could do if they chose to progress the interaction we have with plants while also iterating on the Walking in Stations concept (in this case walking on planets).

From a lore point of view although we are different to Dust clones maybe our consciousness an jump into a similar clone that allows us to control a drop suit style armor to allow us to walk on the worlds of New Eden and still be immortal.

Edit:

I Personally see a planet surface as a free roam feature within EVE. Which would also open it up for meeting other people and planetary exploration. Maybe you can aquire a land (or water?) based vehicle with an anomaly scanner that detects planet bound mineral deposits and combat sites.

We would need system large enough to hold a pod as the DUST and Capsuleer implants are incompatible. A capsuleer piloted mechsuit could be fun though :]

I like the idea of Mechs as well ( i think CCP called them MTACS though).

I don't consider the implants issue a problem as the walking/fighting on planets clone would be a different clone. Your pilot clone would remain in its pod on the ship and transfer the consciousness into another clone that was the non pilot clone. Anyhow its a game and lore can be changed or some new tech introduced derived from drifters maybe like the entosis links where.

The difficulty would lie in making it possible for other players to find and interrupt you. I seriously doubt that any features will be added that don't involve/allow player-player interaction.

I'll add the same as I say to those who want DUST interaction in PI. It would need to be in specific areas where DUSTies can play too and there would need to be additional PI benefits for the extra risk/effort.

Otherwise I'd be all for PI based interaction. Stomping on a DUSTie in a 50 ton mech could be a lot of fun :D

Can I sit in orbit with bombardment guns and slaughter people playing with the surface content?

Co op play would work same as normal. Two players fighting together or one prepping the other. Obviously the ability to be ambushed might be had by the ability to scan districts from orbit and see the players on your scan. A similar mechanic to probes might also be implemented.

It's not too different to eve itself as there are some systems you can only meet one person at a time in for days.

To begin with it might be similar to wormholes I.e. hard/not designed to live in long term but a small community might relish the challenge.

Planetary bombardment would be possible but only at targets dicated by someone on the ground.

Id love to see this and Dust playing together in the same space.

Using the valkyrie system for piloting mechs against dusties might work. Orbital gun batteries to defend against Eve bombardments working on the on second ticks could be fun too.

When you say valkyrie system what do you mean?

Eve already has WASD controls in space and avatar modes so controlling either a dropsuit, vehicle or mech should be easy enough wether it is practicle given the 1 second ticks is another matter.

The turrets to shoot at enemy ships I like the sound of.

I was thinking the Occulus Rift cockpit view for the mechs. To interact with Dust the capsuleer would need to switch on to the DUST servers whilst planetside so a 1 second tic wouldn't work.
