EVE Alliance Tournament Discussion

After running our checks to see whether pilots have been flying for multiple teams, we have identified one person that has flown for several teams. Under the rules for Alliance Tournament XIII, “As a player, you may only compete for a single alliance, regardless of how many player-accounts you own.”

As a result of breaching this rule, the pilot in question has been disqualified from Alliance Tournament XIII, and may no longer participate on either team with any characters they have access to. Subsequent breaches of this rule by this player will result in a permanent ban from the tournament.

In this instance we have not found evidence that either team has sanctioned this action, nor evidence that this is a widespread practice by either team. Additionally, teams do not have access to information that allows them to check whether a player controlling a particular character also has characters in another competing team. As such, we have decided to not take action against either team.

The characters in question and the teams they are participating on:

Joran Jackson – Ministry of Inappropriate Footwork
Kip Redrum – Test Alliance Please Ignore

As Footwork team captain I am an idiot and did not realize this was even a rule, even if is there in black and white for all to see. He was straight up with me that he had an alt in TEST on the tourney team as he is a different timezone from the majority of our players and wanted some content outside what we offer. I said that was fine as long as he didn't fly if we faced each other.

It's a damn fair ruling so I can't argue with it. TEST - for the record he didn't pass me any Intel about what TEST were getting up to beyond discussing a little of what we had already observed with other agents. He never gave me insight into what meta you were flying or training times or anything of that sort and kept his identities separate as I believe he is quite fond of playing on his alt and probably feels more at home with you than us for the most part.

That is a shame. We might've been okay with it if he had let his CEO, auth group admins, and AT captains know of his intentions; sadly, he was not as forthright with us as he was with you, and he has been permanently blacklisted from our alliance.



He did seem to value his time here, but we were not aware he had any other loyalties. Obviously, given what I said above, he did not pass us intel about Footwork. Also all of our practices are public and advertised on eve-o; we have had a lot of successful scrimmages with other teams, but a few will just show up in covops and watch without participating. Oh, well.

Thanks to all of our practice partners, and we'll likely be organizing the same sort of open matches on SiSi this coming year, given the relative success.

Was innocent ignorance on my part and I didn't get any benefit from it at all, I presume he kept his main's identity secret in order to play with you guys without breaking an alliance rule rather than for any malicious purpose - he has told me stories of how much fun he has in TEST and never gave me intel about what you guys get up to so it's your loss tbh. I feel bad for him and hope you can make an exception for him if he does want to re-join TEST in whatever capacity you would have him back.

To clarify - I'm a big tourney nerd and would never intentionally break a rule (of course I have only my word to back this up) in order to try and gain an advantage. The thought of getting banned from tourney play terrifies me! I keep the activities of my main on TQ very separate form my EVE_NT collides project in which I hold no other motives or loyalties to any particular group (including my own alliance) and pour dozens of man hours a month into it purely to generate more tourney content for the eve player-base and I really enjoyed working with you for Collides so it saddens me you think this has ruined my integrity.

also it shouldnt sadden you, because this rule seems almost obvious and paramount to any tournament, eve or not, that its inclusion in a rule list is perfunctory....and also this being eve, there is some measure of doubt in your word...you at least realize this, how can we believe you that there was no intel passed eh? TEST being TEST, we expect spies v0v

There was no malicious intent from my point at all as far as breaking tourney rules. I apologize to CCP and to the wider Eve Tournament community. Without a doubt I should have been certain on the rules, but I did discuss it with KICK captain Bei and was under the impression I could fly as long as it was not against each other. I promise it won't happen again, CCP, thanks for not banhammering me. If I wanted to keep it from CCP I would not have the same email and payment information on all my accounts. I hope that is enough reason for CCP to believe this was an innocent mistake and not malicious. I imagine it didn't take Sherlock Holmes to figure out it was 1 person with multiple accounts.

This is my first year in the tournament and I loved every second, on both teams. Test bros I seriously love your alliance and I did make real friends there. I am a USTZ guy in an EU alliance, so I was just having fun where I could. I don't mind a burned alt. Hopefully there's no hard feelings, but it's Eve, so if there is, I get it. GL Saturday.

As Brave captain I'd just like to state for the record that I don't feel this had any effect on the result of our match with Footwork.
