Hello fellow capsulers.

I'm up to dive into pvp and ofc scratching my hands to start with. But i was told i have to be patient and learn some skills upfront at least be able bite before die Ugh

My question is what was your experience whennyou started? How many times did you die before your first killTwisted

Thank you!

Here's some thoughts on EVE PvP for Newbies, and some EWAR for Newbies ideas.

You can check out RvB or one of the newbie friendly corps from the major alliances, such as KarmaFleet.

You will die. So many, many times will you die. But you will learn, then you will die less and kill more.

The best thing to do is dive right in there and fight. There is no reason to wait. Start learning now and your sp will catch up.

It is the most fun activity in the game. Pirate

It depends what you are hunting really. If you are going after haulers and PVE players you very well might score a few kills before your first loss. If you are going for fights with other PVPers expect a few losses before a win and expect a trend of mostly losses for the first while.

Skill wise there are some things more important than others. If you are going to PVP with frigates then skills that effect ship speed, the weapon type of your choosing and your choice of tank (shield/armour/hull) are generally most important. These skills transfer over well to most other ships you'll fly, particurly speed and tank skills, so they are a good starting point anyways.

You're gonna die. Even if you wait and get an expensive ship and lots of SP, you're still gonna die.

Only fly cheap ships and get used to losing them. Remember, ships are just ammunition.

we did a lot of in corp t1 frig pvp when I was a rookie, so my first kill was probably pretty early, we didn't post any of those mails, and it was before the current kill system so I can't look it up. The first kill I remember out of corp was me in a drake vs a moa. There seem to be a decent number of ways to get a kill. Using ewar is usually a good way to do it. AB TD scram kite ships look like a good option for fighting most turret ships. Also neuts are very strong vs some targets.

I'd also recommend watching more experienced players to learn how they get their kills. This vid shows a 17 day character getting some good kills. He also has a video with a new amarr character, and I've also seen some other similar vids a while ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=de1hwoFYA_k

You absolutelly right. T1 frigs are mys first and obvious approachPirate

Vids, yeah, i like to watch those! Yesterday was watching Mr Hyde Twisted very exciting tbh. He only thing is at some fights he said no implants and links but his skill points level is still better vs newbie so he could squezee out of stuff he used more efficiency, right?

Of course i do understand the experience factor and sort of luck.

Still up to listen your stories which are might be hard to recall

My first months solo PvP, I got 10 kills to 20 losses.
The second month was 20/20.
The third month: 45 kills to 25 losses.

I dont know if that is about par.

Stick to FW space, and novice FW plexes at first so you will only fight Frigs.

Stick to T1 Frigs while you get a feel for it.

Don't think flying bling ships like Worms and Garmurs mean you will win from the off. You wont.

With the video I linked the character he used was on a trial account and under 20 days old. the character's name is "Please Nerf OGBs" you can search for him on zkillboard. Oh look he has an eveboard, you can see all the skills that he finished with http://eveboard.com/pilot/Please_Nerf_OGBs

I've seen some of Mr Hyde's videos very good love the sleipnir one.

That was a long time ago for myself. EVE was basically like 15k peeps max and servers were normally running like 4k duders at once (I started in beta and returned in 2004 with a different toon). In USTZ that is. Basically it was pretty rare to actually see someone else outside of high security space. About 90% of my time was sitting on a gate in low security space waiting for someone to warp to my gate and kill them (when warping to 0KM on a gate did no exist yet).

Back then it is was pretty hard to die, if you were prepared for a fight. Since there was never really a gang roaming about ready to kill you. It was almost always 1v1s. Also having a cloaked ECM alt that was always standing by pretty much guarantees you a win. In short, the game for myself is a bit different, since I started the game before all "this". Whatever the game is considered now.

A side note, thorax's cruisers did like 1k DPS, maintained a good tank and were dirt cheap. RIP thorax.

Without getting into my normal diatribe on how Eve is different from other MMOs suffice it to say Eve is not a game about fair fights. It could be argued that there has never been a fully fair fight in the history of the game.

But semantics aside Eve is more about stacking the odds in your favor or trying to out cheat the other guy. The short version is that Eve is probably more about the meta game than the specific situational stuff.

If you find yourself in a fair fight, either you or your opponent have screwed up.

The only "fair" fights are the ones that you win. Twisted

Peaceful industrialists still wage war via the market, so shooting them in the face because you have friends or alts making and selling the same stuff is good practice.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

I see what you saying but... You did pull from the context, clarification is i got a gun he got a gun we could start fighting. I don't see of much fun to kill a hauler with cargo inside. You know what i'm talking about. Ofc i might be outnumbered at some point and i'm not a Clint Eastwood but...

I started pretty much my first day and got my first kill with another fellow newbie a week or two later I think. I died a lot. I got my first solo kill after about a month of play hanging around Amarr/Minmatar FW. If I can do it you can too. Just try and learn from every experience and supplement that with good advice, tips and guides. There are a lot of pvpers that post here in this subforum who can help you get started.

This video covers 3 basic tactics. The gist is that range control is everything in EVE combat. Good luck out there, and fly dangerously.
