Hey everyone, I hope this is the right place for off-topic.
I am going to make a clean installation within the next week (due to new hardware) and I am thinking about giving a go for the new Windows 10. Now I have some questions about that which are pretty long (and maybe complicated):

#1 Does EVE Online run on W10?
#2 I am using W7 Pro right now, I got the license via the dreamspark program, where I as a student, have free access to Microsoft software (OS). It is retail (I think since I have installed it a few times on different hardware by now). Will I be able to use the "free upgrade" license which comes because I own the Win7 Retail on my next hardware if I should upgrade right now (old hardware)?
#3 I could get me straight a (atleast I think it is) retail license of Win10 via that dreamspark program. Is that license (it should be like a bought license for $100+) useable on different hardware? Or does it also "link" itself to the hardware and once I wish to upgrade my CPU, I would have to get a real retail this time?
#4 Does anyone has a clue what Windows 10 N actually is?

So you see, I'm really confused by the new way MS is trying to control licenses. I am somewhat curious about Win10, but also rather carefull when I come to the point of having a retail that works only 1 time.

"Windows 10 is the last OS you'll ever need" -M$
Plan to die waiting on tech support.

But yes, WinX is said to be supported as CCP has said.
As for the rest... *shrugs*

I'm in it for the money

I tried windows 10 for about 2 weeks. It adds no functionality, and removes options that I, as an EVE player, consider QUITE important, like setting a time for windows updates and disabling hotkeys for for example swapping keyboard layouts. The two different configuration systems makes no sense, either, you will like one or the other, so go for what you like. All it adds in theory is Cortana, which is a horrible program to begin with because it uploads EVERYTHING to Microsoft, and Cortana isn't even availeble in most countries yet because there is no way to convince it you speak a language other then the one that is native to your region, and only english is supported.

So short version, DON'T DO IT, its not worth a damn.

Be sure to avoid the Win 7 backports of the Win 10 user telemetry software: http://www.extremetech.com/computing/213183-once-more-with-tracking-microsoft-backports-privacy-invading-windows-10-features-to-windows-7-8

They pushed them a few weeks back through Windows Updates.
