The Best of EVE...

So, last week, I broke my leg in three places. Unstable ankle fracture, with it, which means that I can't walk until about March at the earliest.

Add to that, I lost nearly a week of skill training, because I was in hospital and didn't have access to the Internet via a computer, only my phone, so I couldn't change my skill queue. Tragic, that.

Anyway, I'm stuck on a couch for the next three months, and I'm approaching boredom already.

I request: Link your favourite EVE threads, posts, discussions, and related material! An archivey thread would be handy anyway, and this way, you can also take pity on a poor girl whose foot is now medically bolted on to her leg bones to keep it from falling off.

Thinking of you breaking your leg was actaully a good eve moment, suppose you can relive that happening in your boredom.

You know, there's a line between the in-game culture of rejoicing in the misfortune of others, and just being a bad person. The line is not fine. Way to ramp straight over it.

If I had been seeking diversion for losing a multi-billion isk ship, then smirking at that would be fine - even if I had lost it as a result of impaired faculties due to the fact that I currently pop OxyContin like they're M&Ms. That's in-game, so it's fair game.

But acting pleased that I, a living, feeling human being, have been seriously injured? That's messed up. If it brings you pleasure that I, a person, who has done you no personal wrong at all, have been in great pain, that my bones were broken, that I spent a week in hospital, that I needed surgery so that chunks of metal could be drilled into my bones to provide even a shred of hope that I might ever walk again, that, outside of the game, unrelated at all to EVE, I have been hurt...

... there's something deeply, drastically, unpleasantly wrong with you.

Sorry to hear about the injury, sounds nasty.

But if you have that kind of time, I highly recommend reading through every single one of the posts at Jester's Trek. There is hardly a mediocre one among them and you'll learn a ton of new things about all varieties of Eve info. Seriously, I've read through them all twice now and it was time well spent (I read it regularly, but recently I went back and read them all again from #1).

You can start here and then just hit the "newer post" link at the bottom left of each one as you read them. Reading them all in order is best as many times later posts are built on foundations of earlier ones.

But strangely, this doesn't change the fact that Rodyas is a very sick person. Getting pleasure out of the pain of others is an early warning sign, and even though I'm sure he was just seeking attention and didn't really mean it, he needs help.

There's a reason you don't post your personal misfortunes on an MMO internet forum.

I'd be happy to just have a broken leg, but if you're desperate enough, post it in Oope.

People need to be less serious about this kind of stuff. I mean, laughing at the death of her mother would have been a shameful thing to do, but on a thing so little as a broken leg ? Bring the jokes I say.

Sounds a little more complex than a snapped bone, reconstructive bone surgery is nothing to laugh at I can tell you from bitter experience.

I don't have any stories to share but I hope someone can link the thread about the sodastream where all the devs post for you to enjoy.

This isn't worth much but I hope you a speedy and full recovery.
