made my account back in 011... original reaction was wow what a cool game.. but i didn't have the patience to actually play it back then.. now i've been back for three weeks.. and i can honestly say this game is ******* amazing.. almost exactly what i've been looking for.. its also come so far since 011.. but unfortunately its riddled with no life *snip*.. who will spend hours waiting just to **** you over.. like seriously you have nothing to do with your time but **** with the new guy?.. this wouldn't be so bad if it was an every now and then thing.. but for 3 weeks straight i've been heavily trolled bye every player i've encountered.. unfortunately this game seems to just be a cesspool of seriously ****** people that hate their lives.. if you're thinking of getting into this game because now u can sub with plex? think again.. because you're never going to make any.. you're going to be trolled out of every hour u spend farming for isk.. i think im going to give this another week.. see if the community is still so nasty and volatile.. then im prob going to need to put this wonderful game back on the shelf

You're experience is almost totally the opposite of the one I have had since returning to the game.

In general, I find the players in game to be extremely willing to help.

In the end, how we respond to situations is totally up to us and it also affects those around you. If you think every person in game is just out to troll you, then that's probably the way you see it whenever you've had any sort of interaction in game. That's probably also affected your response to different situations.

Dying and competition with other players is part of the game. If you can accept that and understand that everyone is just out to have fun, not to directly ruin your game, you'll find a lot of situations much more enjoyable.

One of the aspects of Eve is that most peoples expectations and perceptions are drastically different from the way it is. Sure it can toxic as theres a lot of idiots in the game. But I can say its actually not that bad if you learn and learn fast. Find some people you can trust, if even sort of with some of your stuff, and thatll help you learn whatever it is your doing.

The fact is most trolls troll for the express purpose of getting a rise out of someone and when they hit paydirt then wont get dislodged easily. You seem like such a person and thats not the games fault imo.

That being said.... find other people you can hang with or else I dont see you making it past the proverbial "night".

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

Had to end sometime.

There are plenty of cool people and some awesome new player friendly Corps out there.

Karmafleet
Pandemic Horde

Two of the best, new player friendly Corps around and lots of members. PvP focused in general, but they also have a lot of PvE ops going on as well to help new players earn ISK.

You wouldn't go wrong joining either.

If your response to a bit of adversity in a video game that prides, and markets itself on creating and confronting adversity, is to call the players 'fuckboys', you may want to step back, read up on this, and I quote, "******* amazing" game, have a think and a chill pill, then come back and try again. People say trust is the most valuable resource in EVE, in the long run sure. As a new player though?

Attitude. A good attitude will take you a long, long way here; far more than (in my experience) other online games anyway.

Grrr.

thanks guys.. i was hoping i would find some cooler people via the forums.. and its kinda hard to keep a positive attitude in a game where literally everyone i've come across so far has been a total a hole.. called me names or decided to gank my rookie ship for no reason just to have their own blown up bye concord.. and yeah the game itself supports free and player created movement.. but that doesn't mean it should be okay to treat people like such worthless dirt and overall try to make them quit the game.. like for example.. Considering the contents of your original post is basically a diatribe you shouldn't be surprised.

Posting stuff like that will get you nowhere, losing ships is a part of everyday life in Eve, getting trolled when you cry about the losses is also a part of everyday life in Eve. Get used to it.

You're going to lose ships until you learn how not to, you're going to get scammed, ripped off and otherwise relieved of your stuff until you learn how not to, when you cry about losses you're going to get trolled, until you learn not to; despite learning all of these things you're still going to lose stuff and get trolled, but not nearly as often.

If you're as taken with Eve as you appear to be, be aware that there is a dark side to it that is there by design and that nowhere is particularly safe, especially not hisec. Eve is brutal when compared to most other MMO's, a significant percentage of what other MMOs ban is considered to be normal gameplay here; as such it is not the game for everyone.

Other players are content just as you are content for them; campers, gankers and the like are part of the game environment and should be treated as such.

My advice to you if you plan on sticking around is to modify your attitude a bit. PvP folk are usually quite willing to tell you the what, how and how not to of your explosion if you approach them correctly; especially if you explain that you're a newbie in reality if not in age. A simple GF in local goes a lot further towards a better Eve experience than going postal after an explosion happens to you does.

edit ~ Re: your experience with CODE., one of the most effective ways to avoid them is not to use the autopilot function. If you've been using it you should stop.

Quote:
The risk of explosion while using autopilot is significantly higher than when flying manually. This message was brought to you by the New Eden Institute for Transport Safety.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Dude. . . Dying is OK.

You're new the game, you should expect to die alot.

You should look forward to die alot.

You should be actively searching for spectacular ways to cause your space ship to blow up.

Just try to pretend that those people are just regular dudes hanging out with their friends chatting on team speak about what all goes in in their lives and are indiscriminately targeting any targets of opportunity that appear. Consider your being in the wrong place at the wrong time exactly as that, and not them wearing pants on their head wearing shoes made of squirrel skins from the carcasses of which they've tortured to death.

You're brand new.

You don't even know what's going on.

Calm down, breathe, and stop taking vidya gamez so personally, n00b.

Honestly, these forums are AIDS, especially for a newer player. It's better to come back here after you've learned your way around, gotten bored, and want to screw with people who whine a lot.
As others have mentioned, find a good group of players and you'll be straight.
That being said, KarmaFleet is an excellent starting place for new players (Snooobees as we end up calling them). I personally spend a fair amount of time answering a lot of question that the new guys have, and there are those who put in far FAR more work than I do helping them get accustomed to life in nullsec.

I've also heard very good things about Pandemic Horde, though I have precisely zero personal experience with them. I might make a new alt one day and shove it in there, just to see if the reality lives up to the hype. If nothing else, the Horde mascot is ******* adorable.

OP seems to be volatile.

Now find some friends and get nasty too.

Chip on your shoulder? Bro, lighten up, this is actually one of the best mmo communities out there. You need to get hooked up, not just roam around getting into verbal fights with random people.

And no, if you set out to PLEX this game as if it were just another one of those f2p's, forgetaboutit. This is not that. My first login was 03-04, played off and on until 2010-2011 where I finally committed for the long term, simply because every other mmo and every other mmo community is pretty much crap now. EVE is one of the last true old-school mmo games, apart from a couple that are somewhat still into the old-school philosophy of mmo gaming (maybe AO and wwiiol to name a couple). Coming from EnB, then SWG and now here for my internet spaceship fix, people of this sub-genre are actually grateful EVE exists, and still operates as a subscription with no real f2p of which still PLEX I have never used to extend my account time.

I'd say at least give it 90 days, get hooked up, it's really hard to make a judgement the first few weeks. Accept that EVE is different from other games, and that it has a different community. The only really thing you can judge the first month is whether or not you enjoy internet spaceships. Some don't and they leave. Understanding the community though takes time.

I'm in it for the money

It's just that he still thinks he's special.

It's OK, he just needs time to adjust. To learn that he's not the omnipotent special snowflake he thinks he is.
