Hi all,

Has Ombey stopped doing his 2D maps of EVE. The latest version I can find online is from 2010. Shocked

I still had a couple of ombey map sets kicking around. Were SO helpful early on. But threw them out as dotlan is online and so much easier to use. I used to look through them from time to time, all the little notes Id made on them and seeing the changes.

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

Had to end sometime.

Ombey said goodbye to EVE Cry

I still use his maps though.

I still use his old maps (ver 3.65) as I find when printed on A4 and laminated they are easy to read and can be stood up under the monitor.

The dotlan maps are good for getting on the spot information but if you download one as a pdf and print it on A4 the text is so small it is very (almost impossible) to read.

I often think it would be nice if someone with Adobe software could open the file and bring them up to date, it would be a lot of work and I have no idea how he did it in the first place, but it would be a tribute to Ombey.

There isn't a lot to update.

I think the biggest task is updating outposts, but DOTLAN handles those so much better. Seems pointless to do it for static maps.

I think Ombey's maps are missing the last map change... but I can't remember what it was (suspect gates added).

EDIT: FOUND IT!

There are enough free PDF editors out there to allow you to edit pages you need to add connections to the existing maps.

Yes, the original may be password protected to prevent editing, but I'll let you Google that one!

An email to Ombey might be worth a shot, just for his OK to make an update, you never know....

But as others have said, they are a great resource, and are a great addition to using DOTLAN.

I bought the EON Magazine's "Eve Strategic Maps" many years ago, but again these are now out of print, petty the authors couldn't have put a PDF version out there in the public domain once they stopped publication.

That's a shame about Ombey. I am aware of dotlan and have used it in the past, I just like Ombey's maps because they are so well designed and set out.

I have the last/latest version printed out in a folder on some bookshelves by my PC desk for quick reference. Big smile

Anyway, thanks for the update all,
