Hello I just recently started playing this game and upgraded to a 6 month subscription as of today and am trying to figure out what skills I need to be able to successfuly do PVE combat of all levels and some PVP in the future. I am mainly focusing on doing PVE only for now until i learn the game more so if anyone could help me out with a guide that tells you what skills i need and also ship fitting information for all types including frigates (I am currently using a Rifter Frigate). I should also let you guys know that I am playing as minmatar.

Also I am trying to find information on good PVE drops that would either be useful for me or that i can sell and make a decent amount of isk, also information of mining skills needed as I also plan on mining as a way to make isk as well.

All help will be appreciated thanks!

This is a little dated but mostly applicable.

Get yourself Eve Mon so you can theory craft focused skill plans yourself.

If you are interested in PvE and PvP help, both from fits, to explanations, to a wingman, then add me in game, and I will help you out where I can, I run missions in Matari space, and I PvP down in Low Sec, which I can help you with a basic fit to follow with me, and teach you some basics in a hands on way, also, props to you, good to see new blood take to the forums for help!

You should start by building a strong foundation that will support any career path you chose in the future.

Also run the Sisters of Eve Epic Arc if you haven't already done so. It gives you a tour of the galaxy and a few million ISK to get you started. http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/The_Blood-Stained_Stars

I have personally found that the a T3 cruiser with well trained skills is actually equal to (or better) than an moderately well trained battleship for PvE purposes. Also, since you're interested in PvP, you get the added benefit of not wasting SP on Battleship level skills (like large weapons, etc.). As such, I highly recommend training into Frigates, Destroyers and Cruisers.

Get each of those hull skills up to 3 or 4, then push them up to 5 as your progress demands. Do not rush up to the next ship size ASAP. Dabble in your core skills along the way. If your PvP demands it, work into Frigate V whenever ya like. Dabble with the Battlecruisers and Battleships only after you've more-or-less mastered the smaller ships.

The core fitting and utility skills must not be neglected, though. Some of them you should definitely get up to 5, but you might want to get them each to 4 first and finish 'em off when certain ships/modules require you to... but I recommend that you not skimp on these (stuff like Mechanic, Capacitor Management, Shield Operation, Power Grid Management, etc.). They might seem to take a long time to complete, but once you're done with 'em, they'll benefit you every single second that you're not docked - that's some impressive usefulness for just a few days training.

As for what loot is worth grabbing and what isn't... Looting everything isn't exactly worthwhile on the time-to-isk ratio... not until you get up to level 4 missions (L4s)... but... doing so can really help you learn what all modules are available, so I recommend looting a little as it'll help you to see stuff and go "why would anyone ever use THAT..." ...and then look it up and find out! The modules that sell well that drop are the high meta level items.

If you do an "show info" on an item, you can look at the "variations" tab. On that tab, the different variations are listed in order from Meta 0 up through Meta 5. The Meta 5 items are the only ones that really sell all that well. Mind you, however, there are some items that don't sell terribly well above their mineral value... but that have a high mineral value to begin with (armor plates, for instance). As such, it's kinda hit and miss. The whole process, though, is a good way to learn about what's out there in the Eve Universe.

Regarding mining: honestly, there's not a great deal of isk-value in mining until you've devoted a LOT of SP to it. In high-sec, you basically need a hulk... and ideally, an orca booster... to really make any decent isk off of mining, unfortunately. It's not a route that I recommend unless you have the intent of becoming an industrialist. If ya just wanna dabble, by all means, good luck! ...just keep an eye out for CODE.

Probably just rolled a new forum alt or decided he wanted to start over once he got a skill plan figured out.

Makes sense.

There's been too much biomassing going on lately, enough to make you worry about the future of eve.
