Self Destruct to move in the direction of pod losses..

I realise this has been discussed before, but seeing as with the latest patch.. you've updated pod lossmails. (N1). Can you confirm if you will look into creating loss mails for forced self destructs ?

This has happened on multiple occasions and although I see self destruct as an accepted defeat, I don't understand why it can't be displayed as a loss mail? (final blow - themselves or something)

I would not mind the loser in the match gaining a lossmail. It is just that Killmails should continue to remain not given for self destructs.

That mechanic forces larger groups for killmails and loot.

Edit: Forgot to mention that the lossmail goes to victim only and not some way to auto appear on some killboard unless the victim agrees by posting the mail or using that API stuff attached to the board.

It would definately make it more fun for small gangs to attack capitals. You easily have enough dps to break the tank but it still takes long enough so cap can just self destruct every time if they so decide.

If you are being aggressed, there will be a killmail if you self destruct. Just an simple idea. Pirate

couldnt agree more... There's nothing more frustrating when small gang pvping than to lose a cap kill because someone self destructs. As it is, it's quite hard to find and kill a capital ship, let alone in a small gang. It would be nice to have self destruct generate a km if the ship was aggressed while self destructing.

Supported, but I think it should work like losses to npc's. It isn't accepted by killboards unless a player was aggressed to the ship. Or else everytime I self destruct my pod to get home at the end of a long roam will show up on the kb and clutter things needlessly.

Perhaps you didn't lose the cap kill? Think about it. And then think more.

Not supported. You didn't blow it up so no killmail.

we forced it to blow up. My view is that your the kind of pilot that uses self destuct to avoid loss mails.

The point of this thread however is to see if CCP will consider creating loss mails.

You fight with blobs - hence a 2 minute timer is long enough for your blob to dps the ship. We fight in small groups, and try and catch big fish unawares. It can be a little frustrating when - for instance ... you catch a cane in a belt with a rifter, and he self destructs.

Two minutes is a pretty stupid arbitrary timer, since the only fights that last <2 minutes are blob fights.

Good example is super caps. There's a guy over in aridia who missions in his Aeon (imperious wizard for anyone interested), we were considering killing him for a while. He pretty reliably jumped out to a single cyno alt when combats were out, we knew where it was. We worked out that we could get enough deeps to kill him in around seven minutes at a high estimate, which we were happy would be fast enough to kill him before help arrives.

Then we remembered the two minute suicide timer, and "reasonable force" suddenly becomes "you must blob the crap out of it or you will never kill it". Same thing happened with a white noise freighter, we had to kill it's escort and it blew itself up whilst we dealt with them.

tl;dr Blobbing things is boring, suicide timers encourage blobbing and punish small gangs.

I could understand adding time to the Capital SDs. They are bigger and take longer to destroy.

However, I personally think that killmails should only be given for laying the final blow. In the case of the SC pilot, they laid the final blow so they get the killmail.

Aye, it would be nice if a copy of that KM was sent to the highest damage dealer though. So it can be posted on BC and not hidden, as they are now.
