If it's good, miners will use bomber alts to make bank. If it's bad, serious bomber pilots wont use it.

Just have it give 1% or even .1% of normal yield from each asteroid. Then make that bombs cost a fortune. I wouldn't mind it being bad because this sounds like an awesome troll tactic.

And it has to work on ice. I will support it if I can use it to cripple ice fields.

Great googly moogly, the OP cannot possibly be serious.

I'd like a bomb that extracts all PI and moon goo within 15 AU, too, please.

Hey guys,

I had a really cool idea I wanted to share as I think it would add a lot to the game in terms of play style and content.

I propose a Mining Bomb that can be launched from stealth bombers. It would destroy every asteroid in a 15 km radius (same as a standard bomb) and replace each one with a can that could be looted. The bomb could also salvage wrecks in the area in a similar way, and maybe salvage active player ships (effectively killing them) too.

Pros:
Adds an interesting new play style of being able to black ops jump into null sec or low sec systems, nuke a belt, loot it quick and jump out, allowing for a hit and run style of mining.

Forces people to defend their space from raiders.

Cons:
Nothing I can think of.

Thoughts?

Really ? Do you think longer than 10 sec over this idea and don“t think it is a bad idea ?
This would make every miningship useless.

I endorse this trolling of the op and/or game breaking idea

I'll bite...what if the trolled doesn't give a crap.

Which would be many tbh. Something is telling me Mittens is not sweating this idea. Dreading the days his mighty empire is crashed by a bomber wing taking out 5 systems of rock in one night. Or several nights even. Is a 1000 man alliance going to run these ops for months on end?

If not like I keep saying...that system hit the night before will rock refresh, potentially even better if index jumped up, the next night. YOu and your merry band of rockbomb tards have to keep on doing this day after day after day after day.

You have a combat wing in space blowing up rock many would not care about. they are wasting their time really.

troll captor is working (kind of) because its actually an annoyance. I am equating it to the good old days of pos sov a little. See in those days you could annoy the **** out of a SOV holder with the fun tactic of random pos placement. CEO of my first pvp corp lived for this. Just took one crappy pos drop to "threaten" sov. Didn't care about the pos....it was dropped to bust balls. Punchline is he did this sober...just a guy who found interesting ways to **** people off. Drop pos, they had to clean it up. It at at least affected sov in some way.

Your idea....is akin to losing out on employee of the month, walking by and drawing a marker mustache on the guy's picture who beat you out for it. While meaningful to you most would be going...man someone has some issues.

On re-thinking this, take out the magically appearing loot cans full o' ore and the OP could have thunk up the ultimate **** weapon.

Imagine if you will: a wing of CODE douche canoes warp in to an ice field in stealth bombers, find players they can't extort and BLAMMO! No more ice to mine. Since the bomb only affects ice, asteroids, maybe wrecks and not ships, this wouldn't be a CONCORDable offense even in high-sec.

Until I done went and thunk up that scenario, I almost changed my mind, eh.

Now...restrict it to W-space, null and maybe...MAYBE...low and this would be a decent war meta. Denial of resources could cripple alliances. Its easy to camp a gate or two to protect your convoys, but add every asteroid and ice belt and they'd be stretched thin like butter on too much toast.

This is an awesome idea. Miners wouldn't need ganking anymore. We would just bomb the belts and tell them to move on.

Even if you got concorded for it, I'd still do it.

Or this be great way to get miners off their ass and on combat ops.

They can slip by ye olde rat tax rate 100%. Just take a few minutes to wipe soime belts and tell them may as well fleet up, you don't have crap else to do now biyatches. Which as I keep saying has the benefit of making index better the next day for added effect.

Just how reliant is 0.0 on local mining these days anyway? Will admit to being out of the loop a bit stuck in empire. When last out there...yeah....an application showing all you can do is mine would get that application rejected real fast. Lots of miner hate basically as unless you could scare up combat ships and be assed to run them, you were about useless really. Did this change that much?

I think you are a little bit out of touch, but not far. Most corporations still want a member who is willing and able to fight, but if Aegis Sov gets going past the teething problems it is currently having we will probably see a 0.0 in which every play style can contribute to securing his alliance's space - not simply those who fight.

What's funny to me about Aegis Sov is that some of the same people who used to complain about having to stop ratting and go get PAP's for PVPing, now complain even harder about having to go rat to raise indexes.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.
