What I gleaned out of this? Their CEO appears to be a heartless wretch who is willfully mass recruiting cannon fodder without taking a moment to give the slightest warning of what they're getting into.

What concerned me is why that CEO would specifically recruit newbies, whilst under wardec. Is he simply a well-intentioned but terrible CEO who had visions of bringing in newbies and training them up into PvP pilots, but allowed them to get slaughtered due to ineptitude?

Or is it shenanigans designed to provide easy fodder for killboard-padding deccers?

Considering the sheer number of losses over the course of several months, plus the fact that the CEO has no activity on Zkillboard I strongly suspect it's the latter.

The sad part is that given the proclivity of a certain type of player, the latter speculation is no less likely than the former.

There is a lot to read already.
Creating an almanch with every possibility to give newbros to read bevor even starting the game is a funkiller.

Well at last one note would help:

Quote:
Newbro, be aware, that there are a quite some pathetic measly EvE players with lots of skillpoints but no skills, that are so lame to try to kill of even the newest and unexperienced players around.

But don't be afraid, after a short time of adaption and learning, you are a smarter more skillful player.
And if not, you can always join the ranks of those embarrasingly pathetic groups.

Well, a GM has responded to say they now have the info they need to proceed with investigation, and that due to the privacy rules no further info can be shared. So that's that.

Nonsense. It is every new player's obligation to inform him or herself. You can learn a lot before throwing yourself to the wolves. newbies aren't innocent babies that need to be breastfed, they are new players willingly not informing themselves. This is a MMORPG PvP game, you know that when you start and EvE is famous enough for its ruthlessness and new players also know that. You are insulting most new players by assuming they are only pathetic, incompetent cannon fodder.

Poor attempt at trying to shift the blame.

There is nothing in any of the Opportunities or Career missions that teaches new players about wardecs. They get a mail saying "Hi, join my awesome corp! 0.0% tax!" and being noobs they hit the apply button, because they think it's just like joining a guild or whatever. How are they supposed to know what they're in for?

People forget what it's like to be totally new in this game.

You are still talking bullpoo. There is an obligation to any new player to learn before pushing buttons. There are numerous sites where you can learn about the game and also in-game. You put the blame on the wrong people not me. You were new once too and so was I. I informed myself before I undocked. May I conclude you were stupid enough to join one of these bait corps when you were new?

there is a difference when people are not even allowed to finish the trial before getting hellcamped and slaughtered in the hundreds stop trying to blame day old noobs because they dont understand mechanics, not everyone reads pages and pages of text before playing a game.

yeah this might be the ceo of the corps fault but mercs are not innocent here they research targets before taking contracts so what did they think when they looked at this killboard and seen the death count and age of players? did they just think yeah thats normal lets dec them and teach them how to play by killing them 5 times in the space of 5 minutes

... sigh ... how can it not be the one getting blown up being responsible for getting blown up when he doesn't learn the rules of a spaceships shooting spaceships game? because if he did he would just leave the corp and he would be okay ... is hat really so difficult to learn you and the OP need to throw a tantrum about how awful it is for those poor newbies getting blown up? What the hell happened to HTFU? Why aren't you in-game teaching these newbies how to save themselves huh?

teach them how? by telling them to go and read stuff, but yeah i quite happily teach new players stuff if they ever ask and if i was in the rookie system watching that then yeah i would help them and i do help rookies, i dont consider repeatitive podding as teaching anybody anything.

did you learn everything about the game when you were in trial, doubt it dont know if these guys left corp or quit the game so i cant comment what they are doing now but there is no htfu attitude when you're getting camped by a load of vets.

HTFU, i guess that should really aimed at the guys shooting the rookies because there is nothing hard about punching puppies.

learn the rules? what if they did this whole post is about rookie griefing so thats against the rules, and its against the rules for a reason.

For eg that newbro could learn it by reading this thread instead beeing a cheap kill for some lameplay.

you don't have to intend to teach some one anything, for them to learn something.

No need to get p?ssed because you might have less easy kills and have to HTFU yourself.

A little more thought went into what we spew when the subscriptions started dropping.

The attitudes we had in previous years were not as healthy. With dropping subscriptions and log in numbers,
The EVE community is gravitating to the idea of at least letting these guys make a little gratifying progress before throwing the **** punch.

It used to be " This is EVE. Suck it up."

Now a little conservation effort is being applied so you don't run out of targets in 5 years.

No, I didn't learn everything when in trila, but also didn't do something as stupid as joining a corp willy nilly. I learned every day by trying, losing ships, asking questions et cetera. You however obviously think newbies can't or shouldn't learn by attacking the people who play the game the way it was made: by blowing **** up. Again. If they leave the corp they can not be hellcamped (ganking aside). Why are you wasting time crying about newbies being podded instead of helping them? HTFU is very much the case here for those newbies because when you do get hellcamped you need to HTFU and find a solution, like most do.

If it is decided it is griefing it is against the rules. So far CCP hasn't ruled it so and I doubt they will. The deccers use the game mechanics plain and simple.

I am sure some not so smart guys might be impressed.

They *ab->used* game mechanics, which is not plain, nor simple.
Abusable game mechanics are always allowed, as long as they are not used to much.

Why again do you feel to excuse some lame players?
Do they need more protection than newbros?

oh, we decided quantity was more important than quality?

in that case, carry on being a bunch of moist eyed pansies. i'll check back later to see if giving each other a handy and singing kumbaya around the camp fire has increased the subscriber numbers.

just going to throw it out there; the htfu attitude saw what, 10? years of near constant subscriber growth. i sincerely doubt kicking people's dog is what's causing the subscriber numbers to dip.

I think the appropriate phrase is "stay classy" clubbing baby seals and claiming you are teaching them a valuable lesson could not be described as "classy".
One does not need noobs protected, it needs those who have no sense of self restraint to go back to organising hobo fights and get out of the game.

Soon after I started playing, my laid-back industrial corp got decced by a vicious homosexual man (that's not an insult, he really is gay) and proceeded to lay waste to our pathetic attempts to fight back. It was a slap in the face and a tough lesson learned about EVE.

But this is a bit overkill IMO.
