I'm running Angel Anoms out in Scalding pass these days in my machariel. Never really flown a shield ship. I used to do missions in my paladin which was pretty straight forwards, MWD to the gate, lazor everything. F2 (bastion) if **** gets scary.

Suddenly I find myself in a Mach vs Angels. I'm having a lot of trouble keeping my tank running through the initial parts of the spawn, especially those Gist Seraphim (artillery ships) seem to be kicking my ass before I can get close enough to establish an orbit.

Fit is ACs, Invuln, Explo T2, Gist B-type Large Shield Booster, MJD, 2 Domination Gyros, 1 Gyro, 2 TE, 1 DDA, 1 DCU

I'm told this should tank no problem. What am I doing wrong?

What are your rigs?

You might consider for anomaly running - replace your MJD with an MWD. Pulse into range with it, then blast away.

Also, with Autocannons, you do not wait to get within optimal range. You open fire when you are in falloff.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

The MJD is a 'get out of jail free' card in null sec anoms, because it never fails that multiple elite frigs will scram you just as soon as an unfriendly player comes into system (I suspect conspiracy!!). Since the best anoms to do are the ones that spawn everything at one central point (pirate gate havens, forsaken hubs etc), OP should keep the MJD and just slow boat to that point. The MJD has saved my ship from bad guys a number of times.

This is my 10/10 Mach. Angels are tough to tank. For Anomalies I refit it like so:

---

Cap stable with the MJD and heavy neut off. As long as you are moving (orbit something) your tank is fine in everything up to sanctums. It's a beast without implants but i use mid grade crystals and some gun hardwirings for extra madness. The MJD is a safety measure and the ECM burst keeps aggro off the expensive Gecko. The Valks kill light drones well enough.

Likewise the heavy neut, ECM burst and ECM drones give you some defensive capabilities (set the heavy neut to REPEAT OFF lol) if you do get caught for some reason. This ship fit is pricy (about the cost of a carrier, maybe a little less) and eats ammo like a fat kid at a buffet , but show me the carrier that can get through the gate of a 10/10 lol.

Jenn's build is good. The Mach is not a drone boat per se. I carry some lights for pesky frigs but that's it. In fact I rarely need to let them out.

Maybe I'm way out of my league, but what about an arty fit?

I haven't really had that much time in the Mach and I've never ran anything like a 10/10, so I'm not even really sure what that would leave in the way of fitting for tank or mobility (MJD and an X-Large would be awfully tight with 1400's at first glance). I know enough to know it rocks with AC's, though needs the maneuverability it has to get into range. Catch is, the rather thin tank and often heavy reliance on pulse fits for shields means that process can be a bit tricky at times. DPS may be kind of "meh" I'd suspect.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

Thanks for replies. Got the info I needed <3

Edit: I noticed all the anti EM rigs and found out Angels do EM damage! I swapped my exposive rig for anti -EM and tanking is going much, much better. Am considering gearing to Jenn's fit but eh... pricey for similar/less DPS O_O

When did Angels start doing EM damage?

Those were the ones, specifically, wrecking me. As you can see, 200 EM per volley. They do more EM than explosive!

Oh yeah the Arch Angel....forgot all about that. Thanks.

I always just used 2x invluns vs angels. but that was only ever in missions. also try to keep moving. I feel like angels miss a lot when you pull transversal. Also I like an mwd for range control, but the mjd is probably a much better gtfo button.

DPS doesn't matter when you have to warp out or die. I never have to warp out lol.

just make sure you're keeping up velocity, that will reduce a lot of damage incoming from missiles if using an AB

I used to do them in a mach with ac's and a 100mn ab, and an xl sb, at work so don't have fit handy. But with a faction 100mn ab you can get it cap stable, boost shields when needed. Just keep angular velocity up, ie approach at an angle, and you will have no problems. Just pay attention to whats coming in and pop the frigs as they come in.
Sentry carrier is still the best way though, you can set it up that it warps out as fast as a bs..

... What next ??

When I switched from autocannons to arty, my ticks increased by some 30%. In my experience, you engage Angel battleships at around 30k most of the time, which is about the optimal range of artillery. A bit further if you need to keep distance from the incoming damage. That is why autocannons, which look better on paper, are in fact less efficient. Maybe some people fit uber tanks and make a point of coming in very close, I don't know.

Also, I've found Rattlesnake to be a bit better, not so much in terms of income, but in terms of convenience-to-income ratio. It is simply more flexible and sports a much better tank, so you can just warp in, shoot, and don't worry about re-positioning.

You don't understand how to use Machariel. I run 10/10 without any problems.
Machariel has 2 strong points: insane speed on AB for a battleship and exellent tracking of the guns. So use those points.

Here is the fit

4 x Gyrostabs (use the ones you can afford to loose, because you live in 0.0)
3x Tracking Enhancer II

Gist X-Type Large Shield Booster
Gistum B-Type Adaptive Invulnerability Field (you can fit T2 invuls and T2 Damage control, but you loose a bit of tracking)
Gistum B-Type Adaptive Invulnerability Field
Gist X-Type Shield Boost Amplifier
100MN Afterburner (Gist X or Domination)

7x 800mm Repeating Cannon II
Cloak - must have if when running plexesin 0.0

Large Capacitor Control Circuit II
2x Large Capacitor Control Circuit I

This fit seems to be expensive, but considering that you make between 250-1800 mills from 10/10 it is a cheap fit.

When you warp to a plex, keep range, kill small and medim ships from range orbiting BS at 50-60 km (barrage works well), then choose 1 BS and move on AB with maximum speed towards it. By doing so (my Machariel does 616 m/s) you will avoid most of the hits from other BS. Then choose another BS and do the same trick. Basicaly the faster you move, the easier it is to tank the plex. By playing correctly and using strong sides of your ship you can run 10/10 without any problems.

I dont think that it is possible to stay still and tank the hole room in Machariel. To play like this you need a Marauder with bastion.

P.S. Also I used this fit for 10/10, does it without any problems if you know how to play. This fit is used for plex running in a system far away with no station.

3-x Gyrostabilizer
Damage control t2
2-x Tracking Enhancer II

Gist X-Type Large Shield Booster (+ mid grade Crystal set without Omega)
2-x T2 invuls
Large MJD
Domination 100 AB

800mm Repeating Cannon II
cloack

Large Capacitor Control Circuit II
2 x Large Capacitor Control Circuit I
