Buff mining drones

Well, mining drones move speed is indeed really bad, and buffing it a little would probably not be a bad thing, BUT adding bigger (& better) drones is imo not needed, as drones are not supposed to be you primary ore income. Unless adding a drone mining barge. And even in case of a new mining barge, i think new mining drone size should not be talked about, but rather a role bonus of the same kind you see on Gila, for mining drones only.

Mining drones add a significant amount to miner's % yield especially if you can use T2.

Mining Yield Google Spreadsheet

Adding medium mining drone would be a buff to potential mining yield for Exhumers as they have the 50 drone bandwidth, though as their drone holds only allow for 50m3 they would lose out on their defensive drones.

The question is do Exhumers need a max yield buff?

Mining Drones with more sizes would be good(for additional skill requirements ofc).
Maybe if there would be heavy mining drone for 25m^3 & 25MB/s they should add additional bonus to rorqual(and maybe to Orca), giving it 20%additional mining drone mining amount/ship skill level.
With that way, those support ships could chose between more income or more safety.


Maybe they should add a option to cause mining drones to jettison their ore instead of bringing back to their owner, leaving the collection work to the player.(A check box just like there for aggressive mode and for fighter warp.)
It would improve their gathering speed, unless someone steal it from them...

Mining drone description even points out that optimal range is 5000m and parking your ship by your drones is easy so no drone speed change needed. just adjust your position and their flight time is near zero. yet another choice affecting ISK per hour in the hands of the pilot and not in need of adjustment.

Yawn,  I'm right as usual. The predictability kinda gets boring really.

We already have a ludicrously expensive medium mining drone (Harvester).

Adding new mining drones with different specialties could be interesting, but right now, the best way to use mining drones is to sit on the rock you're using them on so the flight time becomes a non-issue.
Adding a drone yield bonus to one of the barges or a new barge would make them more interesting, and adding turret slots to the new ship would make them still more interesting as choices. It would be a swap from the mine with your highs/defend with your drones, or the option to install mining lasers there instead of guns for that extra few percent yield, or a probe launcher/cloaker to scan down wormholes and dive into those without having to bring a mobile depot.

A carrier with 15 mining drones and 3 mining rigs should outyield a hulk. Not that I desire to mine with a carrier, just pointing out what I found to be a design flaw. Introducing heavy mining drones should be enough to fix that flaw.

Then you are bad at math. EFT says that Carrier yield with 15 mining drones II is 1275 m^3/min. Hulk's max possible yield with perfect skills is 1906 m^3/min, not including Orca boosts.
