Out of curiosity, can any dev comment on recent extended downtime and what was it cause? I'm (and surely many more tech savvy players) curious about it :)

If not, well, thanks anyway for the hard work on getting TQ back on.

There are some ideas floating around about doing a dev blog about it. Will see if that happens before commenting.

Um Falcon aleady said that last night CCP was getting "something together for us for tomorrow"

Seriously this better not be like Falcons last promise of when he said we would get a skins devblog and finally came like 2months later

Yes please ! Im curious as well P

But if I would bet I would go for a fix that were made within those 24hs (the major deploy and the next day) that didn't pass into QA and went directly into production =(

I mean, why the earlier deploy that were much more complex went fine and the day after all went boom.

But yea, It would be really nice some a Post-mortem on that outage.

Cheers o/

Alright, so that kind of coding pressure tactic is not allowed? Good. But that then leaves the question open as to what happened. And if CCP Foxfour got her favorite kind of pizza during all the stress? http://castello.is/ has some choices that sounded interesting... P

Hm, maybe if there will be a dev blog, it should include table summarizing which dev likes what pizza the most.

When I found the server down, I was surprised (as anyone was)

I'm studying network security and digital forensics and would be VERY interested if the problem would be in either of those fields.

A friend I introduced to EvE wondered if it was a DDoS attack and I laughed.

I reminded him how many players EvE has regularly WITHOUT problems and that the system has special modes for heavy player involvement (like those huge battles that make the news).

I also reminded him about the specialized timers EvE has for logging in that basically make any denial of service attack impossible.

This unscheduled downtime has me intrigued. I would understand if you didn't want to comment on the exact nature of the problem. Certain people can use that information to do... not so great things.

You have my respect and my support for whatever you decide to reveal (even if it's nothing).

hello wall... I didn't see you standing there. Did I hurt cha? Boy, I sure did hit you square. Now one of us is plastered. I'll let you guess just who. Just imagine, bumping into you.

Be happy the servers are up.
