Resurrect corporation and alliance discussion.
There was once an amazing forum called CAD, where people expressed their insights about the dynamics of EVE Online with interest and excitement. Eventually the mods (bless them and their hours of volunteer work) decided that this forum was too edgy and alts were no longer allowed to post here.
In the wake of its demise, the board "Kugutsumen" enjoyed a massive injection of posters and the passion for the EVE Online scene was kept alive. Now Kugutsumen is no more, and the EVE community is left with a gaping void of interaction and discussion.
All the time we see that the most successful games endorse and cultivate player interaction— corporations like Riot and Valve are masters at encouraging people to discuss both the casual and competitive spheres of their products.
EVE has more in common with these Esports than many people may think.
Unlike theme parks like WoW, they don't stand as comfortably on their own. A lot of the appeal in this category of games comes from discussion and community. You can add new ships and mechanics until the cows come home, but if the players can't have fun interacting those efforts are futile.
At the moment General Discussion is a wasteland. It is so general that specific discussions (like nullsec politics, the core of the game) are not allowed, and the sub forums are so specific that general discussion is not viewed by a wide audience.

What the EVE community needs is a new platform to cheer, to snipe, to gripe and to wallow. The EVE community needs corporation and alliance discussion back, or interest in this game may continue to fade.

I don't think that will save eve online. Other than that - i don't think it's in a situation that needs saving?

CAOD was just an e-peen measuring fest anyway.

Is that the forum where the ISD send all our CODE. threads to die? Looks like it already has a new purpose.

I was actually paraphrasing a song that refers to Ulmo, the lord of water in Tolkien's LOTR/Silmarillion universe.
Thanks for writing a cool response though!

We use Reddit now.
- no CCP moderators
- you can paste chat logs, CCP GM responses
- CCP dev pics
- and much much more

It also doesn't have that freaking "Forums are being spammed..." warning clickfests.

Guess I'm about to start following Reddit after all.

You know, I used to sub for Skills Training Offline and to [email protected]#post on forums. Sometimes I was logging in because I needed to juggle skill queue and because why not since I'm subbed anyway.
For a while I didn't need to juggle that queue (thanks to unlimited one these days), and now it appears that I won't need to appear here too...

That doesn't sound nice.

I fully support this notion.

CAOD, probably, used to be the most active part of the forums, and I personally think the two Great EVE Wars in the 2005/6-2009 period have made EVE what it is today. Posting of private communication is abhorrent, though there should be a balance in some way.

Killmails are public, so I see no reason to restrict them to C&P section only. Blink

Reddit is decent in this regard, but it is also obscure to most people - you can not beat SirMolle's Pendulum thread in CAOD. Unless you're the Evil Thug. Pirate
