I like to know how or why CCP figured the mercoxit mining rig needed to be a 'medium' sized module. Clearly it was not intended to be used by the very mining vessels it would benefit most.

Case in point: Any Mining Barge or Exhumer, is outfitted with medium sized rig slots; naturally one would figure they could install a Medium Mercoxit Mining Crystal Optimization I rig and enjoy the mining amount boosts this rig allows. WRONG !!!

As usual. CCP dangles the carrot before the horse... by disallowing Barges & Exhumers the ability to outfit Modulated Deep Core Mining Lasers, and conversely... it is also noteworthy to mention that miners cannot use Ventures or Prospects as a 'preferred' mercoxit -mining platform because the medium rig will not fit into small sized rig slot... but you CAN use Modulated Deep Core Mining Lasers on the smaller mining vessels.

So what is the point. Why would CCP create the damn thing if they never intended to allow miners the capability of utilizing the rig in a manner that was most befitting a miner's needs?

On a procurer this rig is fine, and the ice mining rig is perfect for a retriever dedicated to ice mining. A rig related to mining that is in a very bad shape is the mining drone rig, with a malus to cpu non-negligible and to bonus mining drones that are very optional from the beginning.

And yes as said, barges have a modulated deep core strip miner that can use mercoxit mining crystals.

Because he is special and doesn't even know those exist :P
