Why has the launcher been made ugly?

It's to make it look like there are more people online, using a font with big obnoxious numbers. There are currently 2 3 0 8 6 people online!!! Looks bigger than 23086.

Now that the icon forum warriors have packed up and gone home, it's time to hate on the launcher change.

Good thing for CCP that they are on a small island separated by large oceans from angry roving forum mobs. Blink

Only reason they aren't forced to whiny changes. Except world of tanks, they made gold ammo available for earnable silver and didn't rebalance it. DIDN'T REBALANCE IT!!! Lets just say. It's like adding twice as powerful ammunition into EVE, not fun at all, but of course the elitists in that game agreed with it.

Oh, I perfectly understand, Hal Morsh — a mission like this requires courage, skill, and heroism… qualities you are clearly lacking. Have you forgotten you're one of the bloody immortals!?

I still remember when I first started playing this game on my main years ago how the launcher engulfed the whole screen on startup and you'd be presented with this cool little animated floating space station in front of a planet or something with little ships flying to and from it, all while this little sci-fi melody played in the background.

This was also back when EVE still had the jukebox and Caldari pilots prided themselves on having the ugliest ships in the game before the many, many ship redesigns.

I sometimes wish we could "emulate" 2003 or even 2007, not really a full functional server, just launcher and a single player one system ingame emulation. People would beg CCP to receive more changes. :D
On the bright side, as long as people complain about "first game problems" EvE must be healthy. Big smile
