Improve Gate Guns In Highsec, make destroyers less practical gank ship

As a person who believes ganking should always be a part of Eve, I also believe that it should have an actual cost to it. Right now destroyers make ganking so cheap that people are just ganking things randomly.

My suggestion, give gate guns the power to shoot more than one target at once, and give them an alpha of 15k EHP. Basically so if a group of catalysts shoot something on a gate, they all get instapopped. The result is that players will be forced to use alpha ships to gank things on gates and stations and destroyers will become a less practical option on gates and stations.

Then people switch to Artillery-fit Thrashers like they did before. You do need a couple more... but the end result is still the same.

Destroyers will always be the more practical option simply because they are designed to "punch" above their class... especially in numbers.
You can't "fix" that without nerfing destroyers themselves... which would make them pretty useless as that is their only other redeeming features aside from their superior tracking/range (for small weapons) and relatively low cost.


But that is besides the point. Ganking doesn't need another nerf.
If you want to prevent it or stop it... do something about it. You have options and tools at your disposal. Instead of asking for a change to the game itself you should be asking; are you willing to put in equal or more effort into protecting your assets compared to gankers who are trying to destroy it?
If not... you deserve to lose it.

And yes... ganking requires A LOT of preparation and effort before any attempt is ever made.

I'm not a ganker, but I do know that there is not enough ganking in the game. Contrary to the gankee's common belief that ganking drives subs away, it makes the game more interesting and more of a challenge. It is why i have scouts, and web ships and a properly tanked hauler for EVERY haul.

Dessies are glass hammers, almost one-shot saturday night specials. The fact they have been gankers' go-to ship class for ages without receiving a nerf(in fact they got an incredible power boost to give them their ganking power) means they really have CCP's blessing along with bumping, hyperdunking, and protection rackets.

As Shah has pointed out, gankers will adapt, they always have and always will. They are the reason Highsec is playable as part of eve and not some hand holding hippiefest of the risk adverse. Risk and Reward. Why people think they should get any of the latter without the former in a War-based economic sim comes down to a single word: entitlement.

This is eve. You are entitled to a noobship, 1 trit and a free clone.

Use the force without consent and the court wont acquit you even if you are a card carryin', robe wearin' Jedi.
