question for lvl 4 mission tanking with 2 chars

i have 2 chars

1 damage dealer

damage dealer fitt:

mega navy issue

high slot:
7x 425 t2 with antimatter
1 x large s9 shield transfer array

med:
2 x republic fleet target painters
1 x tracking computer t2 with tracking script
2 x cap rech t2

low
3 x magnetic field stab t2
2 x tracking enhancer
3 x cap power relay t2

rigs:
3 x ccc t1

cap stable with all online. now this guys boosts the tank with the large shield transfer and 5 x t2 heavy shield drones, after he gets the room agro.

now the question comes at tank:

i can chose one of the following:

tengu , nighthawk or golem

which one and what fitting should i chosse for an omni tank , cap stable and max dps? i dont wana change hardners or something, because i get 2-3 missions at a time and i dont wana dock to lose time. also i get agro of full rooms and the main problem i see is the bonus room in angel extravaganza when the bs's spawn ( this is one of the max damage i saw , in my opinion). the whole room damage seems a bit high. also in some missions the dps cant come right away ( cause of triggers) and the tank must sustain until all triggers have been triggered.

ive tried different fittings but nothing seems to satisfy me.

i dont have any faction booster, just a gist x-type photon and explosive active hardner. for dps i have 3 caldari bcu. also got 4 caldari navy siege and 4 caldari navy cruise launchers.

what would you guys go? i would like to go for a passive tank with the best dps i can get. an active tank is welcome too.

thanks in advance for your responses.

I would go for the Tengu, maximize it towards resists (to get the most our of the remoute shield transfer) and a decent passive tank. Including the remote support you should be able to tank around 1k dps (just an estimate) without too much effort. Having the Tengu orbiting should also evade lots of damage.

The perfect ship for your purpose would be a Rattlesnake: great tank with gigantic buffer, drones put on assist (very easy to manage;))

throwing this out as an alternative...

As a convenience person, I would use your gallente character as the tank, in a double rep domi with drones assisting your dps character in any of the ships you prefer that you listed above. Domi can be cap stable and without need to generate cap for hybrids, you can have 5 resist items and 2 reps.

That way no need to lock anything but the start target with the tank, and it will still - depending on skills/mission scenarios apply 450 dps to whatever you shoot at, and you'd only alt tab over to use a civvy gun to start proceedings, and do occasional drone house keeping.

You could have a spare set of heavy shield drones in the domi for screwups too - give you more tactical alternatives if you screw up other than warp out.

I'd like to give yet another option...

With two reasonably skilled characters in a level 4, your best tank is your dps. Set up both ships for max gank (Tengu can easily tank any level 4 while fit this way). This will give you the added advantage of greatly increased income generation.

For an example, here's the fit I currently use (w/Guristas hardeners)...

[Tengu, Bay Load II]
Caldari Navy Ballistic Control System
Caldari Navy Ballistic Control System
Ballistic Control System II
Ballistic Control System II

Gistii B-Type Small Shield Booster
Gistii B-Type Small Shield Booster
Heat Dissipation Field II
Ballistic Deflection Field II
Parallel Weapon Navigation Transmitter
Republic Fleet 10MN Afterburner

Heavy Missile Launcher II, Scourge Fury Heavy Missile
Heavy Missile Launcher II, Scourge Fury Heavy Missile
Heavy Missile Launcher II, Scourge Fury Heavy Missile
Heavy Missile Launcher II, Scourge Fury Heavy Missile
Heavy Missile Launcher II, Scourge Fury Heavy Missile
Heavy Missile Launcher II, Scourge Fury Heavy Missile

Medium Bay Loading Accelerator II
Medium Warhead Flare Catalyst I
Medium Warhead Flare Catalyst I

Tengu Defensive - Amplification Node
Tengu Electronics - Dissolution Sequencer
Tengu Propulsion - Fuel Catalyst
Tengu Offensive - Accelerated Ejection Bay
Tengu Engineering - Augmented Capacitor Reservoir

With my middling skills, it runs cap stable with one of the boosters running (and pulls 719 dps). I very rarely have to use the second (runs 5 min+ when I do). Orbit your second ships at 5k with AB running and you'll hardly be touched. For AE bonus room, make sure you hit the ground running and keep transversal up. Run your second booster until incoming dps is significantly reduced (which should take < a minute) and you'll be fine.

As for omni tanking - you could generally be fine running two invulns, although you may struggle running back-to-back missions that hit on your lowest resists. In these cases though, you may have to simply anticipate the problem and make a quick swap. Just realize that your EFT-tank on a Tengu is vastly underrated, you'll primarily be sig and speed tanking.

I currently run the above setup paired with a Mach, and the limiting factor of my completion times tends to be locking speed more than anything else.

tl;dr Dps tank your missions, it's more profitable and a hell of a lot more fun.

Someday I want a second character that has some leadership bonuses. Then, have the second character fly a Drake or a Nighthawk. Actively using missiles is more work, but the passive tank helps to mitigate that. There is a resistance bonus gang module to help with omni-tanking.

I am hoping for a rocking T2 Mymidon someday. That would be sweet. Faction battlecruisers would be interesting too. Someday… someday.
