Ganking encouraged?

Hello

By traveling a lot through highsec lots of red pods from the gankings can be seen, like in Niarja, Uedama etc.

Can those pods be destroyed without loosing the ship to CONCORD? or is actually ganking supported and encouraged by CCP? since CONCORD don't shoot pods (from missioning can be understandable but police should be different)

Becasue in the current rules/features/gameplay the game isn't fun:
In this case industrials (people hard working for ISK) loose more than gaining and gankers ("outcasts") gain more than loosing. At least the gankers should loose their implants each time a bad act is performed as punishment (which actually isn't near as enogh).

P.S. sorry if anyone is offended.

Yes it's perfectly legitimate gameplay

No it doesn't need to be any harder

No I'm not a ganker

Yes I have a spare pitchfork. It's going to cost you though

If they are -5 or more you can kill them in high sec without concords wrath. They are a free kill.... IF you can catch them, pods are very hard to catch if not on autopilot.

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

Had to end sometime.

If you think they should lose their pod for ganking, then make them lose it.

If they just ganked someone they will be flagged as criminal and can be shot without CONCORD intervention. If their sec status is below -5 you can also shoot them freely. (they can shoot back however)

If you want to pursue a PvP career in high sec you might want to read up on crime watch.

guess ralph got offended.

and yes, it should be much harder for murder in highsec, or much more punished (like all ISK and assets are taken - e.g. state/federal police in rl = CONCORD in game; and player corp banned and hunted in highsec for all eternity - one for all and all for one) Twisted

anyway
so then when i see a fighting and CONCORD pops a ship, i`m free to destroy any remaining pod without CONCORD hostility even if that pod has security status of 10, right?

gankers pods are empty, getting podded back to station where all your ships are sitting is a bonus.

Best we don't underestimate the enjoyment factor of the people out to ruin your day. And I'm sure making them accountable for the crimes with the current system is more than enough! Afterall, everything in EVE has consequence.

It's like losing their expendable, easily replacable ships and gaining a modest penalty in security rating is not punishment enough! Think of the gankers! Those poor things...

It can be rather hard to be ganked if a pilot follows some basic precautions. Things such as properly tanking their ships, not carrying excessively expensive cargos in something easy to gank, not autopiloting (at least not through known ganking routes), and more.

Gotta remember highsec is only meant to be safe-er, not safe. Sometimes when people are complacent they get ganked, and not many people would support a highsec where everyone is free and safe to be complacent. Kinda not what eve's about, so yeah in a way I guess ganking (like all forms of pvp) is kinda encouraged.

If the pod is flagged criminal or suspect yes you can shoot 'em.

Do a little research into how these mechanics work if you're uncertain.

Ganking can be easily prevented, and NOT doing so should have consequences, too. I think ganking and it counter-mesures are quite well balanced (no, I'm not a ganker, but I haul stuff through HS all the time and yes, I have been ganked, but each time it was my own fault - to greedy, to careless or just too ignorant).

That being said, the crime watch article has been linked above, it states:
Quote:
If you receive a Criminal flag in high security space (or jump into high security space with an active criminal timer acquired elsewhere), you will not be able to initiate warp, or jump through a stargate and CONCORD will spawn and attack you, gate/station sentry guns will fire upon you, and any player may fire on you without penalty. Any jettisoned wrecks or containers will be auto-abandoned, allowing any other player to take from them without penalty.

I believe they must be below -5 or at war to shoot a pod without Concord intervention, but I am rusty in this area.

Edit: forgot the timers of suspect and criminal as well, those should allow you to.

that crime stuff is mostly about ships, for pods is only "Pod killing a capsuleer with an active Suspect Timer will not result in security status loss or CONCORD response."
so yeah, i`m unsure since i cannot see his timer What?

Ganking is not really punished (as a "ganker" job, security doesn't matter), but if its encouraged, maybe highsec should just be renamed to a more fitting description
Maybe a "Stadard Ganking Procedure" career agent should be added Roll

Also, fit and autopilot doesn't do much as ganking occurs:
- if they're bored
- for showoff (maybe initiate into ganking corp)
- for the lol
- hate the skin of the ship, or character name or whatever
- fit test, concord warp time test, etc (maybe)
- when its profitable
- when they sell the same items (so less market competition)
(at least thats what i read)
So they gank even if didn't scan before: ah, look its a wreathe, lets see its contents (and the above reasons)

Furthermore, maybe cargo optimizers instead of bulkheads have to be fit (not gonna enter in details of the haulers stories)

P.S. Irrelevant answer (or i just dont get the pichfork part) = ralph offended

They should prevent anyone from activating any module in highsec.

Think that would make everyone happy.

This thread is going places.

To answer your question, ganker pods share the GCC their ship had before CONCORD repossessed it.

To touch on some of these other points:

CONCORD is not the police. CONCORD is more like a repo man. Do crime? Get your ship repossessed.

If the industrial pilot works so hard for his ISK, why does he not work hard to protect it? Scouting, checking systems for recent losses, and proper tanking isn't all that hard. If the ganker puts effort in to kill you, you should put effort in to prevent it.

Gankers are already punished pretty hard, if you ask me. Global timers, killrights against them, ship loss, security status loss. Four punishments. No need to make it even harder. The only punishment an industrial player suffers from, stems from laziness or being unprepared.

All that being said, if you do prepare for a gank as best you can, and still explode like a pinata with gold plated firecrackers inside, kudos to you for trying, and kudos to the gankers for putting the extra work in!

My 2 kredits.

Concord are not the police, they are judge, jury and executioner for a very limited number of offences, however like the police they're always late to the party and you can often bribe them to look the other way.

Ganking is a part of life in Eve, deal with it.

Ralph is just responding to "boohoo I got ganked/am worried about getting ganked/am going to ignore everyone's advice" thread number 76149280585145. It's a thankless job, but someone's got to do it. Everyone take a moment to say thank you to an everyday hero, Ralph.

Thank you Ralph.
