Idea (as stated in the topic) add not successful attacks to the battle log. Log should be limited to PVP only.

So if you are slow boating (or not) and find yourself in the next station deep in structure but still alive it would be nice to see who attacked you and what weapon system was used.

Actual example: warped around in low with an interceptor and met someone playing around with area damage weapons (smartbombs). I was too fast to see what he used and didn't want to go back and ask for details because he shot away 70% of my shields with the first wave. However I would like to know what bombs he used so I can fit my ship against this kind of threats.

Doesn't the existing combat log track the last 100/1000 events? Little "i" type icon.

It persists between systems

Are you asking for the generation of killmails even when a ship doesn't get destroyed?
No. Try using your combat logs, that's exactly what they do. You should be able to find the old ones in My Documents\EVE\logs\Gamelogs, and the logs from the current session are available in the Neocom Menu under Accessories\Log and Messages.

Looks like my last answer was eaten by Bob...

I will have a look at the log files. And no, i didn't want them to be listed as kill mail - which would be technically wrong - but a possibility to see who attacked me and what weapon was used for the attack. I get this info in a kill mail but so far I was unaware of a way to find this data after I wasn't killed and didn't look at the screen while the attack happened.

Checked log file and found the damage plus the type of weapon and the pilot who loved me...

Well, another detail learned.

wait - you can access old (well, say from 2 hrs ago) combat logs in EVE? thank you so much!

For posting an idea into F&I: come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it..... If your idea can be abused, it WILL be.

Just locate the log files as stated, open them with a text editor and find the character (each has his own log file). Then search for lines names (combat) and you will see how much damage has been caused and what weapon was used. In my case large smartbombs with explosive and EM damage.
