New EVE map has many issues

There is talk of swapping out the old map for the new map entirely. This will severely hamper my ability to play this game.

The main issue right now is line drawing and brightness on the map. Lines are not drawn visibly at all or too faintly and even the systems themselves are quite faint. This needs to be fixed before full release. Notably, if I have selected a distant system and I pan the map and then zoom in, all of the systems fade out to be invisible. The new map is already very hard on the eyes and I'm a young guy. The folks that are in their 40s and 50s that play this game are going to have hell to raise when this is fully forced on everyone.

Another minor issue is that there is no way to maintain a fixed orientation. The original map, when flattened, had a fixed "north/south" orientation. This ability should be preserved at least through a separate flag so that we can view the map in the "normal" orientation of it.

Another issue is that when panning on a flattened map, if you are not exactly top-down when viewing the map, you will slowly zoom into the map as you pan because the 3d view is preserved. Flattening the map should truly flatten things and when panning will only pan in the plane of the systems even when not observing the galaxy flat-on.

I would also prefer a way of swapping the left/right mouse controls and have left click drag be a panning maneuver while a right click drag being a rotation maneuver

There's the vagueness about controlling your probes, the **** poor fps,the icons getting in the way of the probes handles.

The entire issue can be solved by making the old and new maps interchangeable via the "Display & Graphics" Menu. They simple need to provide the player with the choice to use either/or.

Personally, I prefer the old map. Besides the flaws you've already mentioned, the old map has far less lag and is much easier to use just in general.

I prefer the performance of the old one, the new one looks stunning but it's actually subpar for scanning, I hate that this is the case because I love the new look but it is.

The new map is awesome compared to the very first map day when New Eden opened up.

I would suggest calling its something different like Celestial Chart.

I think it should be called Magical Underwear.

Shut up.

I like the new map for traveling, but I like the old system view, where you can scan nicely in it.
Can we haz both, sir?

Bob Artis, you will be missed.
