You can actually get 50k ehp ... 37k vs EMP /note : PG8 required + all V
Really good fit for an hulk still gonna get one shotted by few nados.. Your fairy hulk doesnt really cut it.

Or they could not gimp their yield by fitting a tank and just not be AFK. Anybody actually playing the game and taking proper precautions will never be ganked no matter how their ship is fit.

@ Ladie Harlot

True everyone who got 8 BM in system and is allways alligned to one of them and keep in range .. will actually never get killed.

But
Scenario
Everyone does that
Some "combat ship" appears on grid everyone warps..
Person in "combat ship", probably mentally ill, will laugh
People in mining ships will lose time

Result
Same as before but the one who does the ganking lose nothing for same effect..

Then it becomes just like everything else in the game: is the reward high enough to justify the risk. Why do you think miners should be completely safe when nobody else in the game is?

I dont.. You are right to an extend.

At current population and preferences its non-issue

Few hulks/mackinaws/retrievers get destroyed.. not a big deal there..

What i think that mining needs serious overhaul, just to make it profitable and actually meaningful..
I know big null alliances got industrial corps in them for obvious purpose, but honestly who would mine veldspar in null Big smile
Unless they all live in communist utopia working for better tomorrow.

How so ?

Try it and you'll see.

I have. It's thrill, and a bit scary of course....and hoping to avoid the embarrassment of failure.

But HILARIOUS ? Still have not answred this......................

On an alliance/corp level it doesnt really matter since i am just part of the pack. More people means less human.. Just another number in the fleet.

One of the best things about ganking is that while you can do it with friends you can have just as much fun solo! If you don't want to be part of the pack you don't have to be.

Try it...you'll like it. The first time some loser threatens RL violence because you killed his mining ship pixels and you get his account banned you'll thank me.

Sounds like a great way to NOT earn descent ISK ingame, TBH. Roll And they say Ice Mining is unprofitable ?????

REALLY....all you need is 2 Invuln Fields and the Ship Scanner. Can fit 2 Mining Upgrad II's in the Lows STILL then. That Damage Control is useless during the power of a Gank, if those Invulns don't help you.

Sorry but Invulns and Drones are your only Hope.

Where do you get the idea that what is wanted is COMPLETELY SAFE mining ?

The issue is, the unbalance is TOO severe.

I certainly do not want the risk taken away, but a Paper Bag defending against Flying Scissors is not even a Real Life scenario. No industrialist would even bother to risk equipment so shodilly equiped into a war zone (which EVE is BTW).

I can just see a RL mining operation..."Lets go mine some sandstone (or WHATever) in Afghanistan RIGHT NOW and use only civilian equipment. Yeah right.

well industrial ships namely mining vessels doesnt make any sense from "any" sci-fi perspective..

Mining vessels ussually were beasts massive armors/ huge ships.. something like "super-capitals" in game..
Many of industrial ships were repurpossed to vicious battle-ship like vessels.

True. In most SF scenarios, the miners LIVE in the asteroid and mine out of tunnels as per usual etc.

Our mining barges and exhumers are indeed a bit odd............

How so? We've already established that if somebody is not AFK and paying attention to the game while they play it is impossible to gank them in high sec. The arguments for making ganking harder are from people who don't want to have to pay attention or want to be able to play while tabbed out doing something else--something only miners feel they are entitled to.

Well, explosions are more fun than lasers, but.............

Maybe change belt rat behavior with more difficult AI....more and stronger 'hassle' from rats and with more firepower.

An AFK Mack should not be able to 'ignore' Rats........that's for STARTERS to do SOMEthing about the botting issue aspect at least.....

The AI in general needs a monumentous overhall. Though this is a great point. It would be great to see a pirate battlegroup pop in every now and then, especially in the lower ends of High Sec space. With scram/webbing cruisers and other diabolical tools to make mining at least remotely interesting.

Mining cannot be made more profitable. The more it is, the more people jump onto doing it and then the profits drop again.

It's market competition. Miners sell themselves for almost nothing, they get almost nothing. Also, like in RL, those making the heavy jobs are often socially scoffed at and badly paid.

If EvE was real, the next step would be to hire 3rd galaxy immigrants to mine, then the next step would be to make mining ships automated and finally, new ships able to gather whole belts at the same time would be invented, for mass cost vs yield improvement.

The fact EvE can't evolve (until it's programmed to do so) makes for the low profits.

Stated yes, but is it true ? Where exactly is this a pronouncement on the true function and purpose of EVE the Game by CCP ??

I missed THAT memo.

IT"S A SANDBOX.

There are ways of playing and things to do that would require absolute silence and NO interaction with other players at all for YEARS. Avoiding the Market and Contracts would be idiotic, so I guess one would have to interact there, but that is not exactly personal.

Also, I don't think the person you responded to was implying a completely PvP free EVE. I certainly would not want that. I believe the implication is PvP-Free Areas of SOME nature. That's all.

Ironically, Chribba MAY be the only one playing EVE properly from the aspect of determining one's own gameplay and following through with unwavering longevity !

It is a MULTIPLAYER Sandbox. There is nothing stopping you from mining quietly in peace. At the same time, there is nothing stopping the next guy from deciding he gets his shits and giggles from blowing you up while you try to do that.

If you want a PvP free server for Eve, there is one. It's called SiSi. You might like it there.

seriously, the number of Combat and ECM drones I pack would take care of that......and those rats would indeed pop the botting Macks too........

Where The F--- was THAT 'agreed' to ???????????

It is VERY possible to do just that with Sensor Booster w/Scripts and Scrammer. EASY EASY EASY.

I'VE DONE it myself.
