Proposal: Power Grid Penalty for Interdiction Nullifier Subsystems

There's not a whole lot to this one. In principle, survivability historically demands tradeoffs in utility. Tech 3s haven't traditionally had to make much sacrifice to achieve a great deal of survivability and a broad range of utility. This could be mitigated by imposing a significant (25% or even 50%) penalty on a hull's power-grid for equipping the Interdiction Nullifier subsystems. This could help bring the power of Tech 3s into a better balance line, without completely obliterating the value and utility of the Interdiction Nullifier subsystem.

Losing a low slot is a significant penalty. You also miss out on the other subsystem bonuses which can amount to things like 25% increased speed or 50% boost to afterburner speed.

to be fair, some subsystems are fubar anyways.
take tengu power core multiplier. it has the second lowest power grid out of the subs for that slot... even at max skills

T3's known to be broken. CCP quoted as saying they need to be put down like the rabid dogs they are. Kinda hard to make nit-picky changes to them when they have that 'rebalance bat' hanging over their heads

Perhaps, but it can't hurt to offer some ideas, even (or perhaps especially) at this early stage.

First, there are tons of T3 balance threads out there.

Second blanket nerfs are bad.

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

First, I like the idea of nerfing T3 "cruisers". However, I think they need a complete overhaul, not just a nerf to a subsystem. HOWEVER, T3s are vital to the current EVE economy, and even more would have to change (mostly involving mechanics surrounding null gate camping) to prevent significant damage to the economy.

Do you have context for that quote? Because from what i know that is straight up hyperboly... They have said they dont like where they are in the meta right now but from what i'm seeing tengu's are falling out of favor a bit in nullsec block wars... Granted it isnt like there ARE very many of those right now...

I think the nullifier subsystem is fine as it is, because to fully take advantage of it you need to also use the covert reconfiguration one, and they make T3s pretty bad when combined...
