Why does Paladin & Golem Have Repping Bonus?

Hiya Capsuleers, I'll be able to fly the Paladin soon and when I checked the ship bonuses I noticed that it has a Armor Rep Bonus which seems out of place considering that Amarr traditional armor resist bonuses as seen regularly on Amarr Hulls especially on T2 variants. The situation is the same with the Golem as the repping bonuses usually goes to Gallentee and Minmatar. Personally I would prefer the resist bonus as it could eliminate the need for 1 extra large repper when I decide to do C4 Wormholes, not to mention saving tons of cap and having extra fitting room. And the Golem would be able to fit a massive passive shield tank that rivals the Rattler. So I like to know why CCP decided to give all Maruaders repping bonuses instead of giving Amarr & Caldari their normal racial resist bonuses?

This is why they have a repping bonus

Resist bonus was considered to good for a high end battleship when combined with logistic ships, so instead they got a local repair bonus so they get even higher local tank than the resists would give.

For local tank the repair bonus is stronger (7.5% vs 4% per level)

Marauders can't receive logistics in bastion mode and the resist stats are lower but the overall tank with resist bonuses are better because you take less damage.

bastion mode wasn't a thing in 2007 when marauders came out, and it was a design decision back then that seems to have stuck. if you want to dig up those threads feel free, I'm too lazy right now. I do have the link to the blog that has a link to the discussion thread for the latest round of balancing of marauders: http://community.eveonline.com/news/dev-blogs/we-cant-stop-here/

First all marauders have a local rep bonus. You can consider any resists bonus to be baked into the bastion module. Which does not allow remote reps, so rep bonus > resist bonus.

Also you will note that all marauders have less ehp then their t1 counter part. A passive shield tank would be Ill advised on the golem, especially it only has 4 low slots. For doing c4s or anything with extreme neuting presence. The vargur and golem have the option to go dual xlasb and be immune to cap warfare with resist amps. Etc.

If you are not interested in remote rep (bastion) then i dont see what benefit 4% resist/level would give over 7.5% extra hp/level.
Taking 20% less dmg or getting 37.5% more back from repper/booster should not be hard to see whats best.

Local tank bonus instead of resist bonus is to not make them to strong with logistics, remove bastion and add resist bonus and you have a VERY strong tank when paired with a triage carrier!

That was amazing!

And I have a noob question. In that video, some of his targets (I'm guessing it was the ones that he had selected at the time) showed their ship type and range in large, colored font. How do I make that happen?

That.....was really amazing. Never mind by wondering, I can clearly see with the power of Bastion Mode that repping bonus on Marauders are incredible. but there were not much neuting involve so he got lucky. Shield tanking is so OP, It'd take 3 large reppers on a Paladin to tank like that. I'd be nice if CCP add -50% resistance against energy neutralizers & vampires effects in Bastion Mode.

Ehhh, Marauders are strong enough as is, tossing on a resistance vs neuts would be pretty imbalanced.

I wouldn't say shield tanking is OP it's just different. It's faster, less cap efficient and works at the beginning of the cycle rather then the end like armor repping. I wouldn't be surprised if a crystal set was involved in that video as well
