You don't have to be harsh to be instructive or informative. It's just that some people get a rush out of rubbing other people's noses in it. Then, to make it appear they aren't really that petty, they rationalize it away...or try to anyway.

It's nice to be important. It's more important to be nice. Playing an MMO doesn't change that. People who just aren't nice see these venues as a place where that behavior is excused...by others like them playing in these venues.

There just isn't anything that can be said!

That's what you got from reading that post? You're weird. Sure you quoted the right one? What?
To be fair I got the same sort of impression. A lot of you here take things far too seriously. It's a game bro, who cares if someone wants to try something and fail? That's happens all the time in nearly every game.

You're right it is a game. Players give other players (ingame)authority in the hopes of gaining a greater game experience.

We all butt heads and troll each other here and there, but by and large we're one big happy (if dysfunctional) family compared to other game's forums IMO.

I don't think so, not at all. For the one "good" person, there are a hundred who only want to profit at your expense. Just look at the "Can I have your stuff" posts. And the "We want your tears" posts. And the enormous amount of scammers at the trade hubs. And the numerous recruitment scams. And look at those CODE trash...Animals all of them...

We came here together as refugees from SWG when the NGE hit.

Same here , came solo to eve when the NGE hit .Found a bunch of other newbro's , wich at the time most people where , and we dived into null-sec to seek out fame and fortune. We got neither but did have a lot of fun , i still am in contact with most of these guys even after 10 years and all being in different corporations and totally different playstyles.

People liek that have to do that, have to 'dehumanize' others, that's how they get to feel good about themselves. It's just an indicator of a weak and impotent ego, nothing anyone can do about that.

Funny thing is this... the moment I first encountered CODE. my hackles went up. I was still mining at the time.
Then I stopped and took a good hard look at it. Their dogma is ENGINEERED to **** you off. It's not an accident that it's inflammatory, it was done on purpose. You couple that with them entrenching sound advice for how to play smart into it all and you get what we have now... a bazillion of threads about them by/for/against them. It's supposed to be divisive.

Whenever you get your rage on about them you enable them. And i'm seriously not trying to derail things here, just put them into perspective. The best response is a simple 'calm down miner' aimed right across their bow and then summarily carry on as though nothing had happened. Recognition fuels, enables, and empowers them. If you have a real problem with them, ignore them.

And that being said, it's also a bad thing for me to be bored and drunk at the same time.

Come hell or high water, this sick world will know I was here.

The truest part of that statement was the thing about me being bored and drunk at the same time.

It truly is a bad thing that leads to bad decisions.

Jenn, some day I hope to land on grid with you. At that point I shall gleefully steal at least one of your metal scraps in hope that you shoot me. If you do and subsequently win, know well that I shall be to paraphrase Feyd, "giggling like a retrad playing with a booger".

I agree. To add to that point, any good story needs a good villain. CODE, while they may **** miners and haulers off to no end, bring a different flavor to this game. Yeah, to the average hi sec dweller its bitter as hell, but bitter ingredients have their place in many recipes. A few months ago my freighter alt was bumped and extorted by the esteemed scourge of the Jita-pipe chokepoints, Siegfried Cohenberg. My web alt is fast, but his machariel's MWD must be powered by the very fires of hell itself. I paid the ransom, because that's how extortion works, then proceeded to hang out in their ransom channel for the next few months. Was I mad? Not a bit. Did I stop hauling? Hell no. I went back to the drawing board and streamlined the fitting for my web alt. And knowing him and his people are out there, waiting for me to slip up and make a mistake, adds a layer of challenge to a laughably boring career. Will I join CODE? Probably not. But I do support their playstyle and I will acknowledge that they add a layer to the dynamics of hi sec that I would personally miss if they were gone.

There no doubt about it, there is something special about code. I think before them, there were independents, but it is interesting to see it done on a corporate level.

I knew nothing about Eve when I started playing, I didn't even know it was a MORPG.
A buddy recommended it in a rather enthusiastic manner so I logged in on a trial account and did my best to figure out how a rookie ship works.
Later I realised that it doesn't.
