Hey so about mining. Wormhole corps are cagey, but if you can get into one, it's a great symbiotic relationship between a wormhole group's PVP corps and miners. Wormholes have all the ABCs you need to build carriers and dreadnoughts.

...As long as you commit to building / processing everything in the hole, and you're willing to trash what you don't use. I say that because when you start looking to move things out through holes, it puts too much pressure on mass limits.

The key is joining a PVP group. They don't use the rocks anyway, and primarily-mining groups are just bad. If a group says their PVPers also mine already, it's not the type of PVP group you want.

Totally worth your time as a miner.
