People will get used to them. Doesn't mean you have to like them. CCP wanted to change them and they did. It was unnecessary but they spent time doing it anyway. I'll get used to the new icons eventually.. I like the gate/station/JB icons but the ship Icons are still too much.. The different Icons make it easier to distinguish ship types on the fly but they are too busy for such a small icon and some hard to tell exactly what it is. Like the TCU Icon.. it looks like a caldari scan frigate (buzzard)

FC, what do?

I don't at all see how "lots of different square boxes" can possibly be considered any clearer than "lots of differently shaped icons".

Because every square box was a piloted ship, and everything else was an icon.

Now, all is an icon, even player ships.

If you were using a PVP interface with anything other than square boxes on it you are doing it wrong tbh. And now that same interface should only have player ships on it.

My pvp overview also has things like MTUs, mobile depots and beacons on it. Your's probably doesn't but it doesn't matter since you only need the broadcast history to start with.

I can understand needing depots and beacons on an overview sure, but MTUS? Also can't you just have 2 tabs, one for ships and one for all the other fluff? I'll post my overview when I get back home and show you how I have it set up to avoid this sort of thing.

Ganking is just another form of pve.

That said, indicating MTUs as essential was a mess up on my part, but when the main motivation for pvp is to get to the fitted green/blue parts, MTUs are important. Making sure you don't lose another half to a disgruntled loot fairy.

Like most things in eve they needed to be updated, you'll get used to them.

why? (... did they need to be updated) ... were they causing anyone any issues? any problems? Then update would be justified. If the "upgrade" adds beneifts, then there's justification. What benefits have been brought?

Just curious, why this has happened, that's all. Willing to be convinced.

Change for the sake of change is pointless and a waste of time and money.

Rargh - things are different!

I hate it when I expect things to stay the same and suddenly they aren't the same anymore!

Rabble Rabble!

Personally, I like that I can tell a destroyer from a frigate now, and a cruiser from a battlecruiser. That little difference alone is a solid improvement. I'm sure I'll get used to the other changes as well.

Some portion of the issue IMO is communication ... Fozzie is a good communicator and managed his game-changing Sov topic quite well. He communicates early, he listens, he adapts and communicates again. None so with the icons, after the initial blog and a withdrawal in the last minute, we now just got them announced by a footnote in the patch notes. Everybody not on SiSi was hit between the eyes with a massive game-change on patch day. Even the maps developers know their new map is nice but crap for scanning and keep it optional for now.

It might not have made it to a secondary devblog, but there was an update thread about a month ago sticked in the Test Server thread, for those that are interested in upcoming feature testing.

Granted, your point is valid about communication levels, but the information was out there.

I know and this makes it even worse, because the feedback was given to CCP and just ignored.
