Will rental space still exist after today and the July patch?

True rental space as defined as:

1. Paying overlords money so that you can make rat and mine in peace.
2. Overlords will manage any entosis links/pvp and protection.

Are any alliances still planning on having this ISK making honeypot? The overlords make moon/rental income and the carebears plod away making ISK.

If there's a way to make money at it, somebody will do it.

I'm on my phone and in bed, so I apologize for not digging up the eveskunk mails regarding this. But basically the definition of a renter is already mutated a bit. Under the changes I've seen over the past month, renters would be expected to manage their own entosis. Does being a member corp of a renter alliance allow for this, I forget.

yes and no. It wont look like it has for the past year, but there is very little probability of it going away.

Isn't provibloc technically a renter overlord? Theres no formal agreements or quotas but there are fees for using their services and such?

I agree with the posters above me. My predictions:

1. There will be fewer renters - more people will try to be independent
2. The renter empires will be smaller - cant cross the map to defend anymore
3. There will be more renter overlords - you can only be so big before Phoebe makes you lose, but renters still need a lord
4. Lower rent - less (effective) service a lord can provide

For the record; I have no qualms with rental empires. Any consensual activity between adults that upholds basic ethical standards is fine by me.

in small pockets yes as alliances will no aimt to control smaller pockets of space, renting a few systems will no boubt still happen but not on the scale as before which is a really good thing this patch will do.
Personally the whole rental thing we getting somewhat out of hand.

All my views are my own - never be afraid to post with your main, unless you're going to post some dumb shit

If you really want to be a renter, just send me isk and i will not farm you for kills and will help you against entosis link attacks as much as any rental alliance (can or will) Lol

I think it will always exist in some form, as some people simply want to pay for good space without having to fight over it. However, I do think that the renter empires will be shrinking quite a lot. With blueballing all over the map no longer being a fool proof strategy soon, fleets will have to be more tactically used. And that includes not being able to defend your renter empire at all times.

I think the concept and lay out will change most of all..

You will see people renting out space more to the interior of there empire and installing stronger alliances on the borders of there space. and as long as you have a corp in the alliance anyone can jump over and be the entosis link guy when needed in fights.

I also feel like the idea of renting to smaller and solo entities will become much more common practice as big daddy bear can control the space and you just pay to live there and mine and what not.. Eliminates the problem of defence.. You get all the same benefits can even join the rental alliance you just dont own the space.

I think rental agreements will remain in place, I'm more interested in how the whack-a-mole defence fleets will secure many systems at once.

If a large force wants your space, they will get it, unless you have some major protection. All this talk about smaller gang warfare with entosis link is only going to happen with small gangs and outlying areas.

If big alliance X wants to get your space, all they have to do is split their force in large enough numbers to camp your stations and then happily go about flipping station services and (after July) system components in a constellation. There is nothing you can do about it unless you have big daddy overlord ready to cyno to your rescue, even if it is from post Phoebe close by.

Which is why I ask if anyone knows what the big alliance plans are for rental. As far as I can see, rental will become even more of an option now, tightly controlled, well guarded and a lot more expensive.

I know of many who would gladly pay 1B a month rental for the chance to print ISK at 300 mil an hour, safely.
