I get tis annoying but its not ranting foaming at the mouth annoying... I dont even know what i am doing wrong since i run eve through the launcher and i never have this problem...

I mean all its asking you to do is to effectively type another password, and your character name certainly seems alot less painful then some of the other options?

You mean these tokens and authenticator codes, which aren't supported on all mobile platforms, hence I had to rely on mail? Certainly, now that I can suppress this request it's less of a pain, but I still don't see the reason behind asking me to enter a char name when I enter the wrong password. If it's wrong, it's wrong and that's what I want to know without having to do what I described above.

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.

That's not account security, that's crap.

I do not see how any of this adds any bit of account security, it is just a running the gauntlet on hot ember and glass shards.

It mitigates against brute force/over the shoulder/other low level types of potential breach. It's not there for funsies. Protects those idiots with the password being password, or matching the username or some crap. This in turn saves CCP a series of royal pains in the ass when said morons get hacked and come crying.

I do agree, being asked with you putting the wrong PW in is odd, but having never gone as far as typing the name (I know when I did it wrong) maybe it doesn't tell you what part you got wrong - Most decent systems won't (or shouldn't) tell you what authentication step failed.

If it's that big a deal, why not just copy paste from a notepad file? Or stuff it in the notes in the password manager I'm sure all us savvy people use.

The point that I am trying to make is that why do we even have to type the character name in the first place? None of my other online MMO's ask for this so why should EVE?

Why should I have to type in my username and have an annoyance before entering an annoying game? Should we all rename EVE Online to ANNOY YOU ONLINE?

This is the way things are going and CCP seems to be doing everything it can to push long term players like me away from this stupid wretched and now annoying game.

Use Game.exe - this like tons of other problems launching this game solved.

When i start accidentally launcher 1/3 of the times i get "offline" mode.
But of course i can start the game from exe file and it works perfectly.

I have a static IP Address on my network settings of my computer and I don't have this problem (Shared Printer). Try that, maybe that can solve some issues for you.

Note: I do want to make sure you do realize that the IP address on your computer is often assigned by your router, not your ISP. For this reason, you are able to have the same IP address on many computers simultaneously without issue, as long as they are separated by network equipment (switch, router, hub) WANs are able to differentiate these same IP addresses by the IP of your equipment and its above network hierarchy. This is the reason why subnetting exists.

Because of network issues with some of my ancient hardware(required for my job so do not recommend removing it) I do have static IP addresses on everything in my network. What I do not have is a static IP address to the internet as that randomly changes over time, confirmed this with my ISP. I thought this was an issue with my set-up and I was not willing to create a post or bother the GM's over it with a support ticket. Seeing that I am not the only one having this issue and that players with static IP to the internet are having the same issue I will have to re-think that.

hmmm, try changing your DNS server. this could help. I personally use Google's Public DNS (8.8.8.8) as its fast and has many websites already found (well, it is google). This would make static the server that finds other networks for you. if your DNS changes due to being static, this could possibly cause it. it is often set to auto and thus can change from time to time. You can change this in your LAN settings (same place you edit ip address).
