Or you fix your computer?
Given how many people have no issues, this sounds very much like your computer is the issue. Possibly try a fresh install, and no, not the repair tool, a true fresh install with a defrag in the middle.
And don't listen to the people saying 'bypass the launcher'. Nearly every complaint at patch time has 'I normally bypass the launcher and now x happens'. When it's such a common theme, consider that bypassing the launcher may actually cause the issues in some way.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Eve completely four times in the past month. I still cannot get the launcher to work at all. And yes, while the primary thing you miss out on is the NES store, what is the point of putting all these beautiful skins in there, if you cannot purchase them?

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

This did not work to fix my problem.

For what it is worth, I filed a Support Ticket. It took CCP over a week to respond "due to the high volume of players experiencing this issue." Then they told me that it is somehow a problem with my computer and network, despite the fact that it worked just fine a month ago.

I've already posted the fix for this in multiple threads.

I'm not going to post it here. Stop being lazy.

what i did is found the eve.exe (ran a search on the start menu from Win 7) right clicked and clicked on "troubleshoot compatibility" after it ran for a bit clicked "Try recommended settings"

Thank you for your help! Much appreciated! By the way, your "fix" does not work!

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

CCP Bartender's advice listed in this thread worked for me:

https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=424283

Edit - it worked the first time. It has not worked on subsequent attempts.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

Thanks a lot! It works! But I still hope CCP will fix the issues.

What? You're trying to link to a non-existent article.

Your smugness is fail. Next time you should probably actually try to read the article, rather than just copy link location from the google search page.

Fix your own installations. CCP's launcher isn't broken. Your instance of it is.

Incorrect statement alas, and there are many more than 7 that wish a repair was that easy. Scroll a little further down, to Issues Localizations and Workarounds and feast your eyeballs on more than the "Whiny Seven" and their Launcher issues, along with ongoing official CCP responses that there Are Problems they're attempting to correct.

For closer reading, check Test Server Feedback for the post about the Sisi Launcher rollback to a pre-release number since the Launcher Had A Bug that kept update/patching from happening.

I was posting it for a while as well. Something changed recently, the language flip workaround no longer works very well.

I recently installed Windows 8.1 and tried to install EVE... I had launcher and directx (forced to 9) issues. Because of these, and other things I didn't like about Win8, I went back to 7 64bit, and I once again have no issues at all. So okay, I'll admit, the launcher is not perfect for all systems. It has been, however, perfect for me every time I install it on Win7 64bit.

Win7 = new XP. Will use for the next 10 years.

If you are having launcher issues, I highly recommend not having a trash PC, and running Windows 7 64bit on said non-trash hardware.

If you have Windows 7 64bit, and perfectly fine hardware, but you still have launcher issues, the problem is probably that you're on a PC with a retail installation of Windows, filled with the manufacturers entire suite of trash utilities and drivers. (i.e. HP tools, HP smarttrash, HP disktrash, HP webcamtrash, HP gamestrash, HP updatetrash, etc).

Get a clean, OEM copy of Win7 installation media, install it yourself, download ONLY the bare bones necessary hardware drivers (no applications or "utilities"), and install EVE on your fresh, new, non-trash system.

I guarantee 99.99% of you complaining are probably running some 5+ year old instance of Windows, loaded with every missing registry key and Windows issue you can get, every 99 cent Steam game, browser games, Chrome plugins, and other miscellaneous programs that are constantly running (see: f*cking up your system).

Seriously, I know this is an assumption, but I'm not trying to be a d*ck. I would literally bet money, like 1 or 2 hundred dollars, that your PCs are all dirty as f*ck. Reinstall Windows, don't download anything free, don't watch pr0n on your gaming PC (remote desktop is your friend), and watch your launcher problems disappear.

I can confirm that I am having the same issue with the launcher on four different computers with different specs (Win 7, Win 8). The launcher opens, but won't validate the game. Lets me log in, but the validation stays grayed out. Sometimes waiting a few minutes helps, sometimes only relaunching will work. Also, often the background image will only load partially.

I like using the launcher because of the links to the news, videos and whatnot - and because the patching is so easy.
