New Superweapons for all?

So we now know that soon we can enter through the drifter wormholes, run the sites and loot strange new loot. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=426510&find=unread.

The big question is what will we be able to make from it?

1. We know the drifters have a 2nd shield layer...can we fit an 2nd shields module?
2. We know the drifters have a battleship sized doomsday weapon....will we get one?
3. We know that the drifters can follow cloaked ships, will we be able to fit a new module and end the afk cloaky tyranny?
4. or are they just required items to build our own star gates?

My personal preference is for all 4. Discuss.

Yep, battleships will have dual shields, Jove cloaks, cloak detection and doomsdays because they're really lonely at the moment.

1 - I expect it's special-a-wizard-did-it tech unique to them, so unless we get their ships (unlikely) I bet no.

2 - is silly. Sure it sounds cool, but anyone can see how badly broken this would be when it would be in even a small fleet.

3 - I'm still putting money on the Communication Array structure being able to fiddle with local and possibly provide additional intel on cloaked ships. Actually following or otherwise negating cloaks? No.

4 - Yes. Probably.

1. Doens't look like it.
2. CONCORD might oppose.
3. Very likely drifters are using observatory data.
4. We're apparently building entosis links.

Well we'll be getting our own version of the observatory, which with player interaction, will detect cloaked ships in some form, this is pretty much already confirmed from CCP.

Is their overshield (for want of a better phrase) any different from their normal shield? If not then the overshield is simply a number of shield hitpoints which are separated from the rest, probably to indicate both the very powerful shields of the drifter ships and the trigger point of removing the overshield.

Keep in mind also that its likely that if player ships did aquire the "overshield" we probably wouldn't gain any slots to enhance it - it would be less valuable for most use cases than a shield extender... (which is enhanced by the same modules as enhance the rest of your shield).

What if its a new mid slot module, that gives..say 8000~10000 (extra shield) hp that are non repairable...but when they are finaly finished the 'super derp gun' automaticaly shoots the ship that did its final damage.....thats more or less how the drifter super weapon currently works.

1 - Maybe, how will the mechanics work is beyond me.
2 - No... it's too OP. MAYBE just maybe new weapons for Capitals.
3/4 - New tech will be involved with new structures and their new abilities, with new modules like the entosis link at first with more to follow. Along with stargates, which will allow us to connect with the lost Jove space and reclaim it.

No, just no.

Plenty of OP ships/modules in this game already.

Been around since the beginning.

I dunno... Would be sorta cool to be able to reverse engineer some sort anchorable, unidirectional 'overshield' unit which could be repped by logi's and drones. Allow players to build a shield wall. It would only be fair if it was unidirectional though not a bubble (or even bidirectional; shooting through it from the 'safe' side destroys it as well and I guess if you also incorporated 3D barriers mechanics into the gameplay)

Maybe the long rumored t3 battleships will be reverse engineered from Drifter battleships....

The only real superweapon in this game is my ruggedly handsome visage coupled with my charm and wit. Some have one of those aspects and some have two, but there is only one of me. And you'll find nothing to compare by rooting around in some God forsaken wormhole.

You can put the speculation to rest and close the thread now, for I have spoken.

You are either trolling or will quit the game when you think you have come up with an unbeatable fit.
