Polarized weapons for L4 missions

Hide your mains, everyone, let's talk about polarized weapons for mission running Bear

Is anyone using them for good effect for mission running purposes and could share some experience?
Some time ago I tried the Paladin with polarized pulse lasers on the test server and was pretty impressed with them: considering that i was shooting EM-resilient Serpentis, the damage was good and the tank was holding up okay. Serpentis are fairly short range enemies, though, and i do not have any standing to Amarrian L2-L4 agents, thus I wondered whether it is feasible to use a polarized Paladin in Amarrian missions.
Are there better ships to go with polarized weapons? Other marauders or pirate ships maybe? I've seen a polarized Nightmare video in "My EvE" section, but Paladin seems to be simply better numbers-wise.

Why, marauders chew through missions as is,
I can't see the risk being worth it.

The risk being someone realising you're an easy gank and alpha ing you at a gate or undock

I bet you lose the polarized bonus by dropping your damage mods to get your extra reps and cap to run reps.

Seriously, the only use we've found for this is to have some random dudes equipped with polarized weapons in a classical brawling fleet, praying that they won't be primaried. Didn't even test it, don't know if it works. At least it would be a fun thing to try.

or anywhere you happen to be sat still for a minute at, then again maybe using bastion isn't the best idea with polarized weapons, then again the +100% rep bonus is pretty awesome.

probably best to also use ships known to be brink tanks, so polarized gank abaddon it is!

I wasn't thinking of doing Lvl 4s with this, but I've been kind of tempted to try something like this for blitzing lvl 3s.

~1 billion ISK give or take. 1217 DPS to 25km at all lvl 5s. Reps about 115 HP/s. But under 10k EHP. LoL!

Yeah, paper thin, but I wonder if that would work? Is that enough range to do 3s effectively?

polarized weapons are drifter mowers -not even sure if drifters use their super-weapon against a polarized fit ship.

Polarized weapons are an excellent choice for L4 missions. However to get the most out of it you should also be using officer damage mods and preferably officer tracking enhancer/computers as well. To make up for the lack of resists you can just go lots of cap recharge with multiple officer/deadspace reps. To be honest you won't need much tank since you're doing so much dps, stuff will just die. If you want specific fits message me in-game and I'd be glad to help.

Yes, it will work for L3s - but you will get massacred in some L4s. You need to drop one launcher and run with the Capacitor Regeneration subsystem so you can run a Gist X-Type X-Large shield booster. I'm not convinced that the loss of one launcher and a higher loss of volleys due to the increased rate of fire will put you further ahead than the traditional heavy missile launcher setup. In addition to making you an absolute gank magnet for just about anything.

You can run a Polarized torpedo setup on a Golem, except you often need to use Javelin ammunition because NPCs have a tendancy to just sit outside your maximum range. And your damage application goes to crap because you can't run the typical 2-rigor/2-target painter setup in an attempt to remain cap stable.

I heard people saying that a while ago, but I think it was speculation. no idea if actually true or not.

as for polarized tengu for lv3s, imo you will waste far too much time with travel time for it to be effective, I'd go with something with guns/sentries. most ships have very low hp, and the insta damage of turrets is something I would much prefer. Warpspeed rigged ishtar was rather effective.

I'd wager there's a better than even chance they're trying to get a few laughs out of people trying it on Drifters, considering that Drifters are fairly ruthless and will almost certainly pod them in the attempt.

Excluding bombers and structure bashings there really is no better use for those weird modules than seppuku by drifter

I guess i need to provide a fitting to get the discussion back on track somewhat. This is what I used on the test server:

[Paladin, polarized]
Imperial Navy Heat Sink
Imperial Navy Heat Sink
Imperial Navy Heat Sink
Heat Sink II
1600mm Reinforced Steel Plates II
Corpus B-Type Large Armor Repairer
1600mm Reinforced Steel Plates II

Tracking Computer II, Optimal Range Script
Tracking Computer II, Optimal Range Script
100MN Microwarpdrive II
Heavy Capacitor Booster II, Cap Booster 800

Polarized Mega Pulse Laser, Conflagration L

Polarized Mega Pulse Laser, Conflagration L
Polarized Mega Pulse Laser, Conflagration L
Bastion Module I
[empty high slot]
[empty high slot]
[empty high slot]

Large Energy Burst Aerator II
Large Nanobot Accelerator I

The fitting(without implants) costs about 460 million, the ship sports 42k EHP, DPS(with implants) with Conflagration is 1685 at 27km, with Scorch 1204 at 74km according to EFT.

Opinions about this particular fitting? Still a huge gank magnet? Not worth the trouble?
I am absolutely not familiar with Sansha/Blood raider flavoured L4 missions, therefore comments about tank potential and possible damage application issues are very welcome.

Ease up on the heat sink bling and consider a backup t2 repper in some missions. Br and sansha have the shooting accuracy of stormtroopers. Might be cool.

Interesting, I was thinking of the same thing. Here are some stats for fits I dreamed up. The Marauders would basicly be immobile and I'd toss a prop mod on using a mobile depot when I need to move and take it of when I stop. Clearly, I'd swap the guns for non-polarized when moving through gatea to avoid getting ganked.

Note: All stats are cap stable, all level 5 skills, no drugs, links, implants, augmented drones etc.

AB Nightmare: 762 tank and 1509 DPS w/conflag at 14.5+10km or 1123 w/scorch at 40.6+10km

Paladin: 1052 tank and 1450 DPS w/conflag at 24.7+16.1km or 1064 w/scorch at 69.1+16.1km

Dual RF TP Golem: 1017 tank and 1392 DPS w/rages at 41.4km or 960 w/javelins at 74.4km

I tried with a Vargur and even a Kronos, but couldn't get tollerable range out of them. I'm not sure if the Golem would even apply decently without rigurs and I'm worried the Nightmare would be a gank magnet even unpolarized due to the lack of a bastion module. If you want the fits, ask. Be warned, they are pretty blingy, but fairly small losses in tank bring the cost down a bunch.

Bad idea. You''ll just die. The only exception I can think of is a sniper BS engaging Serpentis or Angel Cartel - since neither of those rats pack much in the way of range. MJD to a great distance and pelt them while they helplessly burn towards you.
