Unable to launch client

So after searching for a solution I'm not actually able to fix my launch issues.

- I've completely uninstalled (to the best of my knowledge) all files relating to Eve. This includes the files located in the local app data folders, program files and all logs etc in my documents.

- Subsequent reinstalls have not fixed the issue.

- I've obviously also tried launching the client from the executable inside the bin folder within no success.

- I'm kind of at a loss as to what the next step would be and what the actual problem is (I don't know a whole lot about software it has to be said). This issue began today (26/05/15) after the minor update installed.

Has anyone got any sage advice on what I should be doing next to fix this?

Thanks for any help, it's much appreciated.

I don't know if there is a fix - a lot of us having been dealing with this since Feb. It's sometimes up to a week before I get the launcher to update -- and it's always around midnight US TZ.

I suspect CCP is having their bandwidth throttled by multiple ISP's and they just aren't being forthcoming about it. By chance are you in the US TZ like me?

I'm GMT but the issue I'm having doesn't appear to be related to the launcher - The Eve exefile.exe process is loading in my task manager - I'm able to see it in my list of active processes however the game simply won't load either from the launcher or from the .exe file even when run as admin. It's really odd. I've had eve installed for over two years and not had an issue like this until today.

It's probably worth pointing out eve is the only application I'm having this problem with. Nothing else seems to be having the same issue loading once the process has been started.

That's the exact same issue I'm having. .exe is dead, but it is running in my my process, but isn't launching the game. .Exe had previously worked for me before I used to the res.cache option and downloaded 6 missing files. Now, the launcher is still just as broken as ever and the .exe file doesn't work.

Before running the res.cache option the .exe launched to let me know I was unable to connect b/c my build was out-of-date.

This is getting depressing CCP. I'm running the stupid rescache application again, but I have little faith on being able to connect tonight, again. What makes me even angrier is reading the ridiculous patch notes--until this issue (4 months old now) gets fixed I hope they begin to slow patching down and bundle the dang updates.

Could you please send bug reports about those issues? Please also include logserver logs from such a failed start, you can find more information at https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Log_Server. Please make sure to kill all remaining exefile.exe processes before starting logserver and make sure that logs are being captured.

Is this guy kidding?

We have been submitting reports and logserver logs for weeks now, with no useful help at all.

This is getting ridiculous.

Every single patch, we spend days, up to an entire week, trying to get our client back up to date.

At least STOP putting out patches for a few weeks, until you can fix this problem.

I've had a ticket open for a long time...the issue is related to CCP's networks during primetime. I'm unable to even download from CCP at the moment, it's not just the launcher.

Please review this thread for the best description I've seen yet of our issue:

https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=424275

At this point, CCP, if you can't fix the game we should get compensated.

Ummm....

I did put those logserver logs on a pastebin posting binge, and linked them in the most recent bug report. (not sure if it's still open, been finding other games to play that don't cause loading frustration.)

I sincerely doubt I'm the solo offering of log files by this point. Things were sort of fine until this morning's update/patch, which has started the temp workaround of language changes to kickstart the Grey Bar of EverWait.

I did notice the hype for 'moar shiny texturez!' when the Launcher loaded after the patch/update. I hope you understand I don't see more shiny graphix as a serious need in my list of Kewl Eve Upgrades. A stable reliable working Launcher would be much more appreciated from this gamer chick.

I also sent log files in --but I just wanted to post again because like clock-work, at 11 AM I was able to regain connectivity to Eve via the launcher. This is an issue is certainly related to the networks during us primetime.

My launcher has been offline for about 2 weeks. The repair tool doesn't work either. I've had multiple installs since February and below I list the route taken to play again, works every time for me. I do agree that the launcher is still botched though.

I use rescache.exe after patches and play from the exe file in the bin folder. That is, after the game is installed.

To install I use the offline executable and payloads.

As for running process in task manager but no apparent eve windows working.. try the following as they are what I've found to fix the issue when I have that problem.

Download C++ 2008 x86 redistribution with svc pack and security update.

Download Direct X redistribution and patch up the 100ish mb

You need both up to date to launch the game.

This is not very helpful. It says 'There is currently no text in this page.' if i follow the link.

Apart from that, same observation as others write here, launcher starts, i log in, the 'exefile.exe' shows up in task manager but no game client shows on screen.

Also there have again been no patch notes, its the 2nd time since the last patch notes have been updated that my launcher did patch eve. It is the most irritating thing and does not look good CCP.

Oooops, the link to Evelopedia was malformed - the correct one is https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Log_Server.

Moflyng and others: If you have already filed bug reports about this issue in the past, then please include your bug report IDs here, so I can look them up. You can find your bug reports at https://community.eveonline.com/support/bug-reports/my-bug-reports/.

No patch notes yesterday: As far as I can see the patch only included changes to DUST and none to EVE. DUST patch notes for this can be found here.

Launcher problems: How sure are you that launcher problems are causing the client failing to start? Normally the "Play" button is not accessible at all, if the launcher has problems.

Treyah: Network problems can cause problems for the launcher - but this should not cause the client to fail starting.

Nice, thanks for the updated link. It is indeed true i can not determine if the eve client does not start of a problem with the launcher or if there is a different problem. I would honestly not know how i could find that out. I have unfortunately no bug report, i have just opened a support ticket on all of my accounts regarding this. i got a response by email with this ID in the subject, maybe that helps ?

[20150527-3920247-472909C5]

was given a link to a new launcher, instructions to remove launcher folder from eve and reinstall launcher, no joy.

since DT on the 26/05 there was no M$ updates or other updates on my win7 PC, only the eve patch (Dust related apparently). i have a look around the forum if i can find instructions on how to start eve without launcher. if i find something i give that a shot.

Thanks

Could you please also file a bug report at https://community.eveonline.com/support/bug-reports/ and include logs from log server? This would be very helpful for us. Thanks!

Hi again!

Seems like I was partially wrong with my statements before. Oops

As far as I can see from this bug report then this seems to be caused by a corrupt resource cache - the client is failing to load a file from disk and it just hangs itself there. :( This could then again be caused by launcher problems and bad internet connections to our CDN provider.

To fix this please run rescache.exe, which should be in your client folder - it will verify the resource cache and try to repair all broken files.

Had the same issue. Found 5 corrupt files running this once they were deleted all works. Thanks!
