Currently looking into this to see if our agreement with the Icelandic Red Cross will allow an extension.

In the wake of the devastating earthquakes that have rocked Nepal and the surrounding regions over the course of the last week, EVE players have once again banded together to request that a PLEX for GOOD drive is held to provide support for those in need of aid.

We're happy to announce that on the request of the EVE Community, PLEX for GOOD has returned to assist with relief efforts.

Please see this Dev Blog for further information.

For any questions regarding PLEX for GOOD, we have a FAQ on the EVElopedia too!

Please also keep an eye on this post for details of PLEX auctions in support of PLEX for GOOD, where we will be auctioning signed Limited Edition and standard hardcover copies of the Art of New Eden, as well as EVE: Source, EVE Posters and other goodies in the second week of the PLEX drive.

If there are any further questions, feel free to ask in this thread!

I really appreciate this being done! This is one of the fantastic things about CCP as a company, and its staff. It's really fantastic that folks can donate in-game money (essentially) for real money towards something where folks really need the help.

I've a friend in Nepal and in talking with them about what's going on there, the need is HUGE for relief and importantly, for rebuilding as in some areas, whole towns are just gone.

CCP Falcon, thanks again!

Can I suggest making sisters of EVE ship skins with all the profits going towards the PLEX FOR GOOD? Would work out both lore wise and as a great donation incentive?

Sisters of EVE Ishtar?

I'd pay 5 PLEX for that in the context of a charity drive.

CoolI've got to say, I'm really impressed by what folks have been doing for the fundraising! You folks are inspiring! Thank you!

I went back and forth about announcing it here as I don't want this to be about me, but then I realized if it helps get the word out and gets people to think again about Nepal, then for those reasons this is worth it.

I'll admit, I'm a little nervous doing this as this character is, well 'me' you know? But after hearing what's going on in Nepal from a friend on the ground there, it just makes sense to help in any way possible and this thing CCP doing is just great! Virtual currency for real physical world good? Heck yes! It's the most valuable thing I can contribute through Eve right now and selling assets would be painfully slow as most are spread out around the Eve world. I mean seriously, of the hundreds of MMOs, how many other companies do this?

I'll start the proper auction post later tonight when I get the rest of the details sorted (also have to be in a NPC corp and there's a list of items specific to auctions I need to read and follow- 1st time is a little daunting to be honest), but the plan -idea- is to auction this character off and the proceeds to go to the relief efforts.

I've heard quotes of 30-40 billion, this also can't be a firesale either and I'm firm on somewhere between 30-40 bil starting, but with losing my main character and this going to a good cause I'm really hoping people might go a little further and they get something hopefully great from it as well. I admit the timing is short and this is certainly a challenge, but I really want to help with this effort in this way if possible. Plus the folks get a new character, a shiny new in-game t-shirt, and actually help some folks over in another country who need it! Big smile

If it's possible, I'd also like to ask CCP to do oversight on the funds to help folks know things went where they should - to buying GTCs and sending to the Plex for Good fund. So long as folks and etc don't raise the prices and etc of GTCs to a stupid level. Plus, CCP has already made clear to me that if anyone scams on this auction its a permaban.

I'd really need to do something to help and I'd like to try to make this happen before the deadline. So the sale would need to be done before the 23rd and GTCs sent to the appropriate CCP character listed in the info in this thread.

I wanted to do this earlier but if there was a time for everything to go wrong it seems to be happening now (between pc issues and being away the weekend when the Earthquake hit, then another weekend, uncertain of an extension of the efforts, and etc).

Like I said, if anyone wants to help make this happen and help this go smoothly let me know. Send me a mail in-game (or if you prefer to my other character 'Mr Coffee'). I'll post the auction in the appropriate auction thread later when the character has met the prerequisites to be auctioned.

Again, this isn't about me, if there was a way to do this without me having to post I'd be thrilled, but those folks in Nepal need help and if this helps them even a little bit then I'd be ecstatic.

Deadline for donations:
Quote:

DUE TO A SECOND EARTHQUAKE THIS MORNING, WHICH REGISTERED AT 7.3, PLEX FOR GOOD HAS BEEN EXTENTED BY ONE WEEK, AND WILL CONCLUDE AT 23:59:59 UTC ON SUNDAY, MAY 24TH 2015.

There is a chance it won't work to get this sold for the deadline, but worth trying if at all possible. I'm just being honest with the time-frame/deadline.

Link for this available via here or viewable via the Character Bazaar part of the forums. It appears Jita has quite a number of GTCs so thankfully so far this part doesn't seem to be an issue.

Update: learning process, never auctioned a character before and didn't realize you MUST post with the character being auctioned. My fault. Will relink. Sorry about that. This was a long shot in helping anyway.

Hold on now people, don't you see what CCP is doing? A plex cost about $20 (as taken from the plex store) and when you give one back, they'll donate $15. So that $5 they're essentially saving for themselves. In other words, they're using the earthquake in Nepal as a sort of cash cow. It's not like they're doing this out of the goodness of their hearts or anything...

That is 15 dollars which goes to help Nepal that might not have otherwise. In the senario listed above in your post, CCP is still giving 3x what they are making, so while I agree with you I also think that if that 15 per could help someone in Nepal, then it's worth it even if I wouldn't necessarily do the same thing as CCP myself.

No. The plex is valued based on the volume orders and sale prices. While some plexes bought individually or in smaller bundles do cost more, CCP has to value on the lowest sell prices or risk losing money. I bought some when they were on sale last year and paid 14.95/ea.

AXIOS. contributed in this awesome event.

We created a Nepal-Campaign and managed to gather enough valuables to spend it on 10 PLEX´es for Nepal.
Thank you for contributing

Thanks CCP for giving us the opportunity to help those in needs. And also a big thanks to all the pilots that took part in this event and managed their own little isk-gathering or tournaments.

Again Thank You EVE-Community,

Spread the Love ;)

Best wishes from AXIOS. Alliance
