I have been thinking about 5MN Microwarpdrives for a short time now and you have no idea how close I was to posting an idea thread about this.

This is all I buy now when I need to fit a ship with a Microwarpdrive, but then I noticed that 5MN, 50MN, 500MN is all there is now. Which is fine by me.

The only bad thing I can say is that I think going from 50MN to 500MN is pretty huge jump without a middle Microwarpdrive. Maybe bring back to 100MN or make a 200MN, but what do I know.

Huh?

1mn Afterburner = around 100% speed increase
5mn Microwarpdrive = around 500% speed increase

10mn Afterburner = around 100% speed increase
50mn Microwarpdrive = around 500% speed increase

100mn Afterburner = around 100% speed increase
500mn Microwarpdrive = around 500% speed increase

1mn times 5 = 5mn
10mn times 5 = 50mn
100mn times 5 = 500mn

How does that not make sense?

Ok, I am all ok with the number change to 5 / 50 / 500 mn. For me, it make perfect sense.

However, I am against the name “microwarpdrive” (mwd), since to my humble understanding, a micro warp drive should warp your ship to some point ahead.

I think the name microwarpdrive should be the right name to the actual ingame micro jump drive module. The actual micro jump drive module DO NOT jump you, since jumping are tied to a change from systems, and actually warp your ship to 100km ahead.

The actual mdw should get a new name associated to an increase in speed, like the name afterburner is.

Well, that is my opinion. Thank you.

The micro jump drive modules DOES jump you, 100km ahead. You do not exist from where you click anywhere along that path til you reappear 100km ahead, hence Jump drive. Its "micro" because it does not jump you out of a system and is short distance. Long time ago using jump drives within a system was allowed I do believe. Your use of the word warp is wrong. When you enter warp in a system you enter a a warp tunnel. Do you see yourself in a warp tunnel when you turn on a micro jump drive?

I never said it did not make sense. Their just doing their multiples of 10. I was just basically saying it sounds like a huge gap difference.

1mn, 10mn, 100mn ( Difference between 10 and 100 is "90")
5mn, 50mn, 500mn ( Difference between 50 and 500 is "450")

So without knowing all the stats and speed difference between all the modules, it just seems like a crazy high jump from 50 to 500.

I think somebody messed up with the 5MN stats.
Compact and Cold-Gas both have the same stats bar activation cost.
5 MN Cold-Gas - 35GJ, -25% cap, 505% velocity boost
5 MN Y-T8 - 45GJ, -25% cap, 505% velocity boost.

Where 50MN
The 2 meta versions offer different stats
50 MN Quad - 180GJ, -20% cap, 505% velocity boost
50 MN Cold-Gas - 160GJ, -25% cap, 505% velocity boost

I would think the 5MN with higher activation cost should have lower negative cap, to be inline with 50MN. Otherwise there is no reason to use 5 MN Y-T8 MWD

500 MN versions also need another option.
like
320GJ activation, -20% cap, 505% velocity bonus

My opinions are mine.

  If you don't like them or disagree with me that's OK.- - - - - - Just don't bother Hating - I don't care

It really is getting harder and harder to justify $23 a month for each sub.

Compact versions have lower fitting requirements. Like storyline. Which is sad, by the way, since fitting was the only good point about storyline propmods. Now they look useless.

Aside from the 40GJ lower activation cost, 5% extra velocity boost and 10% lower cap reduction of the 50MN Digital Booster you mean?

I think it makes storyline more attractive.

Maybe a mega warp burner drive? I think micro warp drive is fine as it is for name.

With the Shield Extender and Armor plates going live on Singularity I logged in to check some of my fits; while I am still working I did find that the new meta module is not seeded in the market
