This actually doesn't have anything to do with the new sov system being developed/released in June.

I was actually thinking that it would be a good/cool idea to allow station managers to flag a station as a Freeport Station.

  • Once this Freeport mode is activated, there will be no standings restrictions on docking (except for docking fees and such).
  • Freeported stations show up as freeported in the station info screen!
  • Docking fees are uniform for all entities, except the owning corporation/alliance.
  • This mode will persist for, at minimum, 72 hours.
  • Upon un-flagging the station will remain in Freeport Mode for 72 hours.
  • Once the station manager un-sets this and any person who has assets in said station will be alerted through a notification.

This would not allow people to state that a station is "freeported" and on a whim change the settings catching people fighting on station undocks. While this is the original reason I started thinking about this, I think it would be cool to know, as a pilot, that a station is truly freeported. This obviously wouldn't stop people from saying a station is "freeported" but at least this would allow people to know for sure.
