[Carnyx] Angel Cartel Cruiser Burner Mission

Greetings test loving pilots!

Available for testing on Singularity as of today is the latest burner mission. This time players will be pitting their fitting and flying expertise against the Angel Cartel, as always expect this mission to be challenging!

We'll continue to have all level 4 missions except for the new Burner missions disabled on Singularity to allow for easier testing. This mission will be available from any standard level 4 security agent, though other missions may initially be offered.

Remember that you can type "/booststandings" in any chat window in game to recieve the standings required to be offered these missions.

As always we encouraged you to try out this new mission, give us some feedback here & submit bug reports for any issues you find. I'll add any known issues to this post as we go.

Known issues/features yet to be implemented
  • Missions final description, name and objectives are yet to be included.

Doesn't work as listed, see no such mission in the list at Fricoure L4 Security agent. Basically, there's pretty much an usual mission list here.

The agents ONLY offer the angel burner mission, so you can only do it once per agent:

That seems to all be sorted for me now, I've added the two other Cruiser Burner missions again (You can decline those with no standings penalty) let me know if you encounter any other issues!

Five ships on grid ~ 30km away: one Angel Cartel Transporter and four Angel Cartel Escort Ships (Dramiel).
The Transporter just pulls range from you (~90 km). It is weak against Kinetic/Explosive and does deal damage when you get closer, albeit negligible. (got hit for 2 damage...)
The four Dramiels close in fast and deal EM/EXP damage, approx. 190 dps each (760 in total). They are weak against EM/Thermal.
They orbit at 2000 meter with 1100 m/s.
All four of them web and point you.

i used a cheap fitted dual-rep Sacrilege with RLML(totally ignoring the ship bonus).
Time to kill: ~9:40min (without overheating)
DPS: mere 297 (446 with drones. Do not use drones against the frigates, they would only last a few seconds)
Tank: 773 against EM/EXP (50/50 damage distribution)
Speed: 1650 m/s with MWD

Warp in, deploy mobile depot, after the second frigate dies exchange one MAR against a second BCU. The fitting is capstable without cap booster with a single MAR running .
When all frigates are dead change one webifier for a MWD.Reload your Missile Launcher with Scourge Missiles while burning towards the transporter.
The transporter won't last long against your RLML and 5 Vespa II.

This one was simple enough to solve; used the obvious rapid light missile launchers.

I wonder if a 2 x Dramiel and a 2 x Cynabal combination would be more of a challange?

Dualweb dualrep vigilant with ion blasters and fulltank (2/1 EXP/EM hardeners + 1 reactive).

Was a major overtank. Took about 4-5 minutes of shooting sitting ducks (including the transport).

I think the balance of this mission was pretty good, I lost a lot of ships trying to find one that would work. Being locked down like that makes you a target for ganking anyways... one suicidal destroyer and all that isk goes poof. I may go back and try the smart bombing in a BC again. That seemed to work very well, but I was only able to get the frigates down about half way before my buffer ran out (then again I had lots of poorly chosen mods).

Maybe for a battleship size burner mission. 2 cynabals alone would be a headache.

I use this fit. You have to overheat at the start, but after the first one dies you can stop. Use a mobile depot to switch out a web and the reppers for a prop mod to get to the industrial after you killed the frigates.

~2:30 to kill the Frigates
~1:30 to get to it and kill the Industrial

The balancing was ok, I definitly had to overheat with this fit and I like the idea of fighting a pack of frigates. The industrial part of the mission felt like it has a lot of potential, I was actually expecting a new spawn when I attacked the industrial.

What do ypu gain by dilutuing the burner mission pool further? You already have nine frigate missions do you intend to habe nine battlecruiser missions as well? Is it really your design to have lv 4 agents offer a burner mission 60% of the time? Do you have a coherent design in mind? Do you want people to keep 12 different mission ships in their hub?

And then nine battleship burners are added. Then nine destroyer burners. Whats the point? They get theorycrafted, the fits posted on eve survival, and then its farm content. It was played out when the frigate set was done. Its clutter and its stuff being thrown at a wall to see what sticks.

Further, that response is not an answer to any of the questions i posed.

It's PvE. Which is, generally speaking, done to earn money. To earn money in PvE you have to earn more than you lose. To do that you figure it inside out, optimize it and do it the easiest and safest way possible. If there is no way for you to earn money in the long run, you just don't do it.
So the bottom line is - it's either possible to make mony, and then you minimize risks and do it the boring way. Or it's impossible to earn money, and then you don't bother, and the uncontent rots.

The only other way to make PvE attractive I can think of, is a decent storyline. Which is kinda one time wonder.

Yes and no. Imagine if the old 40-man WoW raids could not feasibly be completed by level appropriate characters. Making burner missions too hard would be like that. Impossible stuff doesn't get done.
