EVE extended display suggestion

I'm hoping that one of the CCP guys reads this and thinks ' Hey that would not be to hard, and could be useful for our chaps out there in space '.
I'm suggestion a simple option, or choice that players could have. If able to or chose to, what-ever-the-case.
Extended display option. Arrow Many people play having 2 monitors but can only use 1 screen for that session. I suggest that you extend the display to the other monitor. This extension would be a flat grey, or similar color, but the idea is to move your chat windows and market screens and all the other windows to ' THAT ' area so it does not clog up your view-able window while flying around. CCP's done a fabulous job with the graphics and I would LOVE to be able to see it all with out having half a dozen windows all over the screen in front of me. Hell, it's almost like flying via the over view console alone. I don't get to look out the window and stare at the stars any more. Time to throw away that couch I bough at Jita. No use in the foreseeable future. Point is this, Make it possible to extend a blank ' worktop ' usable for smaller windows and such. Avoid cluttering up you main window and WA-LA. The graphics can TRULY be enjoyed. Cool

I don't think this would be to problematic to program, or set up, but I'm interested if others see the value in staring out the windows like I do..... Hey, did something just uncloak out there? Shocked

You can already do this..

Just put the game in window mode and drag a corner to however wide or tall you want it.

I don't see why you cant simply center your view on one screen and push your windows to the other in full screen mode
That's what I do and it works fine

if you can see the view fine on one monitor you can see it fine on 2 with half of it covered, know what I mean?
just because your view extends across both monitors, does not mean you need to see both to play the game.

camera offset your ship to the center of your primary monitor, drag your flight controls over and voila, you fly on one screen and the other you can effectively ignore and cover with windows, you can rotate view or zoom to see everything on the primary monitor.

am I making sense?

Confirming this works. Drag or fix across two screens, centre camera on one and move menus to the other. Works great Big smile

the key here is that when you span 2 monitors (in full screen you can select the available resolution) it appears that your field of view enlarges so things dont stretch out of proportion. (probably just the zoom and nothing near as fancy)

so now you are getting 2x the visual data you did before, so you can effectively ignore part of it and be right in your comfort zone, with the above camera changes, and be able to get the end result you want.

A lot of these suggestions are only viable if your monitors are equal size and resolution unfortunately.

If anyone ever looks at you and says,_ "Hold my beer, watch this,"_  you're probably going to want to pay attention.

Actually, Fixed Window, with a resolution that includes your entire width and maximum height does work fine. It takes a bit of maneuvering around of your UI elements, but it works fine. I would say it only really works if all your screens are aligned horizontally as opposed to diagonally or vertically, but it works.

Nope, you want the following settings:

width = combined width of all your monitors, if stacked, longest width
height = longest height

Client will end up stretched across all monitors and those Parts of the Client which cant be Displayed just wohnt show :)

should work fine unless you have 17 Different attatched

i have a laptop and a widescreen hooked into it

1366 x 768 (left)
1680 x 1050 (right)

it works fine at 3046 x 768

I used normal windowed to stretch the window out to that size and then used fixed window to make it appear like (mostly) full screen with the top of my larger screen still showing through.

I just tell EVE that my primary display screen is the smaller laptop one and it correctly aligns it with the laptop screen and along the bottom 3/4ths of the larger screen.

Wow, I'm surprised that this is already ready to go 'per~se'. I'll jump on and give this a try.
I thank you all for the reply. I really was not expecting much reply on this.
