Hi!
We are planning a mass test on Singularity on Tuesday, May 12th, at 17:00 UTC (= EVE time).

What exactly is being tested?
  • New shader models and texture maps for ships, drones and turrets
  • Performance of client and server
  • New icons for brackets.

How to connect to Singularity for this test:

Test steps:

  1. Meet in FD-MLJ at the X-BV98 gate
  2. Jump to X-BV98
  3. Warp to POS beacon
  4. Shoot the control tower
  5. Align to Poitot gate
  6. Fleet 1: Jump to Poitot and setup gate camp
  7. Fleet 2: Jump to Poitot + fight at the gate

What else should I know?
  • Bring many different ships
  • We will be moving players to the test system - join the channel massmoveme
  • 2M Skill points will be awarded on Singularity for this mass test

Hmm, at that time I'll be at the airport awaiting my flight. I think they have free wifi at this airport. If they do, I'll be on sisi until boarding.

Good. There definitely is some combination of turrets, drone models and new shaders that can really crap out client perf in 1000+ man fights... Had to outright Alt-F4 a client running on Core i7-5830K and GTX Titan because client tanked to like sub-3fps in that recent 9UY fight.

After relogging killed bunch of options (turrets, trails, drone models) and dropped shaders from high to medium and it became playable. Luckily didn't die in a fire while doing the maneuver.

Also absolutely have to use "limit active sounds" in big fleet fights or the FPS will tank hard. Hopefully sound code optimizations might be on the table someday again maybe?

Hi!

Is there a (good) reason why CCP provides only 26.5 hours advance notice? Has the thought occurred to anyone at CCP that prior planning and a reasonable notification period of these tests might boost participation??? Or is that only obvious to me?

Unless someone happened to login to Eve last night (I am in timezone UTC-5 btw), there's not much chance they would see the notice.

If you'd provide at least 72 hours notice I suspect you'd get a lot more participants.

I did not get to the end of the test. What is the link to the survey?

Please have another mass test with SP included

If reddit didn't know about it, you know it wasn't announced correctly

Thank you for helping! We had a very good and busy mass test, especially on such such notice.

Ledo Hashur: Sorry, this is mostly on me. I wanted to be sure that we do not have to delay the mass test before announcing it properly.
